World Wide Pressure Injury Prevention Day:
November 18, 2021!
What can your organization contribute to World Wide Pressure Injury Prevention Day?

Background
World Wide Pressure Injury Prevention Day will take place on November 18, 2021 and the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (NPIAP) aims to make this year's event bigger and more visible than our first contributions to this important day in 2013. To achieve this goal, the NPIAP welcomes the active support of any organizations that wish to participate.

This document sets out some suggested ways organizations may consider providing support.

Objectives of World Wide Pressure Injury Prevention Day
  • To promote world wide pressure injury prevention
  • To create a news hook to promote pressure injury prevention
  • To reinforce the relationship between national and local organizations and the NPIAP

Potential support from Organizations
Organizations can utilize these three documents produced by the NPIAP including:

All organizations are free to download and share these documents. Organizations may add their logo to the material.

Last year we found that national groups were best placed to organize events that suited their resources and access to the media and the public. For example, some groups organized conferences, training events and other educational events aimed at health professionals. Some groups entered retail areas such as shopping malls and supermarkets to tell shoppers about  pressure injuries. Others aimed their actions at policy makers or engaged with celebrities to get the message about pressure injuries across. All of these helped share the news that pressure injuries should be avoided whenever possible.

Please let the NPIAP know about your activities so that we can share the news with other groups across the United States. You can contact us at office@npiap.com.

NPIAP also produced a version of the World Wide Pressure Injury Prevention Day logo, which does not contain the date of the day so that it can be used over multiple years. This logo will be available to all organizations to help general publicity for World Wide Pressure Injury Prevention Day.

Best wishes for a successful November 18, 2021!
