"The third Thursday of every month is our Pressure Injury Prevention Safety Champion Meeting. We will be having our monthly meeting which includes reviewing pressure injuries, their stages and prevention specific to our institution and units. We will acknowledge the day in our meeting, and each Safety Champion will receive a thank you card signed by the Safety Champion Program faculty. After the meeting we take decorated carts with hot drinks and snacks around to the nursing units. We also give out the NPIAP Stop Pressure Injury Buttons and the NPIAP Stop PI Fact Sheet.
We did this last year and the drinks, snacks and pressure injury information were well received by staff. They like having the color visual reference to refer to and it reminds everyone to implement pressure injury prevention measures."

"CSMC will celebrate the World Wide Pressure Injury Prevention 2021 not only for a day but for a week.
The Pressure Injury Prevention week will start on November 11th and end on November 18th. November 11th is the day that we are going to conduct our Pressure injury prevalence survey with the hospital’s Pressure Ulcer/ Injury Prevention (PUP) stars. We are going to wear our Pressure Injury Awareness shirts and NPIAP’s “STOP PI” buttons. We started wearing our shirts last year when we created our hospital wide HAPI Prevention Taskforce. The CSMC WOC nurses, PUP stars and Nurse leaders wear the shirts and buttons on PI prevalence days every quarter.
|
|
We will display the NPIAP posters for the entire week, and for 2 hours each day of the week we will visit each nursing unit and bring our “STOP PI cart” with activities promoting Pressure injury prevention, identification and staging of Pressure injuries utilizing the buttock model, use of appropriate skin and wound care interventions with giveaways and prizes. We will use “spin the wheel” for skin and wound care interventions game and the “pin the tail” game on the buttock map (Berke/Morris 2015) for more fun and excitement in identifying PI locations.
Thank you NPIAP for helping us celebrate World Wide Pressure Injury prevention, please find attached photos of our WOCN team."

"Here at Liberty Hospital, in Liberty, Missouri we are going to set up two tables with Liberty Hospital green skirts. There will be posters from NPIAP displayed up on tri-fold presentation boards. We will also have ink pens to give away, with some of the NPIAP STOP sign buttons we’ve ordered.
We will have some full color literature that we’ve printed up, about Pressure Injuries and how they occur, along with information on prevention. We have emailed all of our clinical departments, department leaders and marketing and PR departments.
We will set up from 11am-2pm that day, encouraging everyone to help in the prevention of pressure injuries. We will use this timeframe to also collect names of interested parties who want to be the change, and help to establish our SWOT (Skin, Wound, and Ostomy team) team. "
