Diocesan Reps, Board and Youth Council meet for National Gathering, in-person and online

After three years of meeting on Zoom, PWRDF convened a national gathering of Diocesan Representatives, board members and Youth Council members in Toronto. The event was hybrid and several volunteers who were unable to travel joined on Zoom. We welcomed Josephine Kizza Aliddeki, director of St. Jude Family Projects, a PWRDF partner in Uganda. She shared the challenges and successes of supporting women and girls and taking climate action through agricultural training (watch the video above!). Greg Smith and Cheryl Marek facilitated the latest version of the Mapping Exercise, and Primate Linda Nicholls led a commissioning service. Thank you to all who participated!

The World of Gifts keeps on giving!

This year when you give from World of Gifts in honour of a loved one, you'll receive a special PWRDF gift tag as a token of our thanks. Support our partners working to accompany refugees, improve food security and livelihoods, provide clean water, empower women and support Indigenous programs. In Your Honour cards are available for each gift, or ecards for online orders.

PWRDF joins Anglican response to floods

PWRDF has contributed $20,000 to a flood response in Pakistan with three other Anglican agencies: Episcopal Relief and Development in the U.S., Anglican Board of Mission in Australia (both fellow members of the Anglican Alliance), and the U.K.-based United Society Partners in the Gospel. The contributions total approximately $66,000 CDN. This project will respond to the emergency relief appeal of the Church of Pakistan, a member of the Anglican Communion, to assist the flood affected communities in Punjab Province.

Candles for COP27: Vigils for Climate Justice

November 11 - 13, 2022

Learn about hosting a vigil

From November 6 to 18, world leaders will gather at the COP27 conference in Egypt to discuss their plans to address global heating. Despite increasingly clear evidence of the climate emergency, leaders across the world and particularly in Canada are failing to take the decisive action needed to protect our world, and particularly the most vulnerable members of the global community.

In recognition of the need for change, members of ClimateFast and For the Love of Creation invite groups across Canada to host candlelight vigils in their own communities.

Raising awareness of gender-based violence

November 25 - December 10

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that is bookended by the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Human Rights Day. The global theme is “UNITE! Activism to end violence against women and girls.”
