Offering HeART and SoulCollage® workshops to inspire your creative spirit | | Worn Pages, Living Stories | | |
Greetings!
Autumn often elicits feelings of melancholy within me. Lately I’ve been reflecting on the ways our lives carry forward—sometimes in the most surprising and tender ways. This summer, my 14 year-old grandson, Silas, went off to camp, where the days are filled with endless possibilities: swimming in the lake, climbing ropes courses, laughing around the fire. Out of all the things he could have chosen, he tucked into his backpack a copy of my book Solo Passage, 13 Quests, 13 Questions — and read it at camp.
The copy he brought back is worn now, softened at the edges, its cover creased from being carried in and out of cabins, from being read beneath the trees. “In the evenings I would go down to the dock at sunset and read your book,” he said.
To me, the wear and tear on that book is a treasure. It holds proof that he slowed down long enough to sit with my words—that in the wide-open freedom of camp, he chose to spend time with his grandmother’s story. What a gift.
Autumn is the season when we see the marks of time in their most beautiful form, mirrors of our own aging. Leaves are no longer green, yet they blaze with color. Gardens may no longer be producing, yet their harvest feeds us. And our own lives, as people who have walked many seasons, hold a richness that only comes with time.
Like a tattered book, our stories are not diminished by age or wear — they are deepened, softened, and made more valuable. The wabi-sabi of a life well lived.
As we step into the season of release and reflection, I invite you to cherish the “worn places” in your own life — the pages of your story that younger generations may one day pick up and read, with awe and gratitude. We may not always know who is watching or listening, but the beauty is this: our lives, lived fully and authentically, become part of the harvest for those who come after us. They will stand on our shoulders just as we stand on the shoulders of our ancestors.
Autumn Ritual: Light a candle at dusk and hold a book, journal, or letter that has shaped your life. Offer a silent blessing of thanks for the stories you carry, and imagine them being passed on — creased, cherished, and alive in someone else’s hands.
With gratitude for the stories we share,
GG
P.S. Over the past couple of years, since I published my book, I get emails or texts from people sharing about their lives and how my book impacted them. Thank you for reading my stories and trusting me with yours.

NEW: Oracle Cards are here!
Solo Passage: Oracle of the Sacred Path
I am delighted to announce that my oracle cards are ready to order!
Birthed from the rhythms of the Earth and the shapers of the unseen, and graced with GG’s original artwork and photography, this 65-card oracle deck is a companion for wilderness questers, threshold walkers, and seekers of truth.
Each card holds a question — a doorway to a theme, an archetype, or a symbol meant to speak directly to your soul. These are not answers, but invitations into themes that will guide you into deeper relationship with your inner wilderness and the living Earth. The wisdom is not in the cards alone — it’s in your willingness to listen.
You can order your Solo Passage Oracle deck on GG's website here.
