Hi all… I have decided to try to throw together a list every few days with the best COVID-related info I have stumbled across – feel free to forward/share with anyone you like. A new symptom? Looks like  loss of smell or taste  may be a hallmark of coronavirus infection and a reason to self-isolate.
 
The FDA just approved the first  rapid coronavirus test . The tests should be available beginning March 30, and when a person is tested results can available as quickly as 45 minutes later – a vast improvement over many current tests that take days.
 
People keep asking me about transmission of coronavirus through air. Here is a  fairly detailed article  explaining the mechanics. What it doesn’t answer is this: can we walk or jog or bike outside if virus particles float through the air for a couple of hours? I just don’t know… I will post the best articles about that when I find them…
 
This is one from the I-never-would-have-thought-of-that! department: turns out that  facial hair and N95 masks are not exactly compatible . So perhaps the coronavirus pandemic will have yet another victim, the hipster beard.

Unsurprisingly, there is a  movement towards more home births , but this is not without potential (and potentially big)  complications .
