Meditation Moment
From the Pastor ....
"Beloved let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
(1 John 4:7)
On Saturday I officiated for a beautiful wedding of a young couple. Love is such a powerful gift that not even a pandemic could prevent this ceremony of committed love from happening. As 1 Corinthians 13 is often recited at weddings, "love is patient, love is kind..." one way that I believe love is also demonstrated is through the art of listening and hearing someone's story. When we really love someone, we pause and listen deeply to their hearts. This builds a greater understanding, strengthens relationships and helps us hear someone else's perspectives. To love someone is to listen.
As summertime is also a great opportunity for reading, I'm inviting OSLC friends to join me in hearing the story of a woman named Debby Irving who wrote the book "Waking up White." She always wanted to love her neighbors and build bridges between racial divides, but she found this to be insurmountable. This is a story of her growing awareness of how she could effectively and authentically bring a healing to the brokenness in our world and lessen this divide we find ourselves living in.
As a church we can demonstrate God's love to our neighbors by providing a space for conversation about race relations. Join me in reading "Waking up White" this summer during a 6-week book study. We will meet on Sundays at 4 PM at Pioneer Park starting on July 12th. Bring your own chair, mask and snack. In case of rain, we will meet on zoom.
When we hear the stories of others, it awakens us to discover our own stories and also THE story of the Gospel. I look forward to this summer reading with you. May we continue to live into our calling to "demonstrate God's love to all."

Cold Facts About Laundry
Studies have shown that washing clothes in cold water is just as effective as using warm water. By using cold water, you can clean your clothes using 75% less energy and creating 75% less greenhouse-gas emissions. Give it a try.

Women's Outdoor Bible Study
The women's Bible Study in the Park will have a new look this year.  Our first study will be led by Pastor Karna on July 9 (rain date of July 16).  It will be held in the yard of Becky Maier, 663 S. Broadway in Stillwater, and all women and friends of OSLC are invited to attend. Everyone will need to bring a mask and those attending will be seated apart.  No food will be served but individuals are encouraged to bring her own beverage and eats.
The theme is "Just Love" in the Community: From Tree to We
(Luke 19:1-10).  The lesson views the story of Zacchaeus through the lens of restorative justice.  What does it mean to make amends for the harm we have caused?  How does Jesus invite us into healing relationships that reconnect us to the communities from which we have been alienated?  It all begins at 9:30 am.  We will see you there!  The offering that morning will go to Bethlehem in the  Midway for their work with the St. Paul neighborhood damaged by the recent looting and fires.
Coffee with Pastor Karna

Family Resources (From Darla Goble)
Hi Friends,
I hope you are enjoying summer and I pray you are well. I have been working on ways we can still connect and wanted to share them with you.
  • Soon I will have resources for your family on The Fruit of the Spirit. These will be at home lessons that are easy and fun. I have videoed our high school students reading the stories that go with the lessons and I will post them online for your family to watch as you go through the lessons.
  • Another fun project for the summer is "Flat Jesus!" I have copied and laminated Jesus so that you can bring Him wherever you go!
Take pictures of your family with "Flat Jesus" and post them on our facebook page at:
It will be fun to see everybody and a good reminder that Jesus is with us always!
  • Our online services are continuing on Sundays and Wednesdays. We have started having virtual Communion during the service. Please let me know if you would like a loaf of communion bread or the ingredients to make a loaf at home. I have made 20 loaves of bread that are in the freezer and I have bags of ingredients prepped.
  • Our high school students and I have had fun visiting some of you at home! Please contact me if you would like a social distancing visit!
  • Please let me or Pastor Karna know if you or your child would like to be a reader or perform special music for our virtual services. We would love to have more of our young people involved.
  • Time for Parents continues to meet on Sunday mornings at 10:00. All are welcome. Let me know if you would like the link to join us.
  • Just a reminder we still have elderly friends who would love a card or note. Please let me know if you would like the link with the addresses of our older friends. This is a great way to connect with people from our church and brighten the day for someone who may not have much social interaction.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do for your family. I miss all of you so much and can't wait to be together again!
