Meditation Moment
From the Pastor ....
"We love because He first loved us."
(1 John 4:19)
On Ash Wednesday, we had the gift of the cross marked on our foreheads that reveal the depths of Jesus' love. While this ashen cross easily washes away, the reality of God's love is ever-present in our lives. During a typical Lent, people often fast from social media or chocolate. We never imagined that Lent in 2020 would involve fasting from just about everything: sports, entertainment, restaurants, school, working at the office, and even public worship!

As all of these comforts are stripped away, and we feel this emptiness of Holy Week, one thing remains: the ever-faithful loving presence of Jesus. Romans 8 reassures us that nothing in all creation can separate us from the love of Jesus. Sometimes this love of Jesus shows up in quiet ways such as silent prayer. Other times God's love shows up in very concrete means; quilters making masks, delivered groceries and a simple phone call. This past week I was blown away by the love of Our Savior's! This is a picture of a craft some of our youth made for me.
We are living into our theme song, "the world needs love." A huge thank you to OSLC as we have 26 households that have increased their giving at this time to unlock the anonymous $30,000 for the challenge gift! As 10% of our offerings go out to bless and help others in need, we are showing this love of God for people at such a crucial time.

May you also trust and know that this love of Jesus is with you always! You are not alone. Our faithful Jesus promises to walk with us each and every day. May you sense the presence of Jesus sustaining you and uplifting you today and always!

Care of Creation Tip
In gratitude, caring for God's Air, Water, and Land
Keep the Earth Clean During Spring Cleaning Sheltering at home during the pandemic doesn't mean we can't affect (or help) our global environment.
Many people who have been directed to stay at home during the pandemic are using the time to do some Spring cleaning. After they clean, they have useful items they want to remove from their home. With donation centers and garage sales not being available, garbage haulers are seeing a spike in the disposal of these reusable items.
If this describes you, resist the urge to immediately discard these usable items you've lived with for so long. Put them away in a box until the reuse options are available again. Don't turn them into extra trash.
A lot of "just one persons" working together can accomplish mighty things. ~ A message from your OSLC Care of Creation team.
