WHO ARE WE?

Every Sunday we stand together in Church and say, "We believe in the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church." When we say this we are affirming that we are Communion Christians, koinonia believers, by which we mean:

• -together with the Anglican Communion throughout the world

• -together with the apostolic inheritance of the faith

• -together with fellow Episcopalians in patience, charity, and humility

• -together around the gift of Prayer Book sacramental spirituality

• -together with the generation to come as evangelistic witnesses

and teachers.

The diocese consists of more than 60 churches, more than 25,000 Episcopalians, and more than 180 clergy, all within our geographical borders that reach north to Oklahoma, east to Arkansas, south to Corsicana and west to Tarrant County. We are part of the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion.

You Can Walk Away From Jesus, but . . .

You can walk away from Jesus, but you will never be beyond the reach of the One who loved you before your first breath. You may wander far from the path, but you can never wander beyond the mercy of Christ. His love for you did not begin the day you believed in Him—it was already there before you took your first breath. He knows every wound you carry, every tear you have hidden, and every silent battle within your heart. Yet none of these has ever been greater than His desire to bring you back into His embrace. The Cross stands forever as the proof that His love does not grow weary when you stumble. Jesus never stops calling the heart that has forgotten Him, because He never forgets the one He came to save. No matter how far you have gone, one sincere "yes" is enough for His love to begin restoring your life. Do not measure God's love by your distance from Him. Measure it by the Cross that still stands with open arms. For the One who loved you before your first breath will never stop calling you home.

The Problematic Posture of Fighting Back by Canon Victor Austin

On a recent visit to some old friends in another state, I saw hundreds of campaign signs at the various intersections of their city. One of them had a remarkable slogan, along the lines of “It’s Time to Start Fighting Back.”

One wonders about the future if this candidate is successful and gets elected. Does he keep fighting back, year after year? Will there ever come a time when he says: mission accomplished, we fought back and we were successful? Can it ever be time to stop fighting back? (continue reading)
