Call to Worship

One:

Children of God: welcome!

Many:

Welcome to this place of love and grace,

One:

welcome to this place of hope and perseverance.

Many:

God invites all of us to be a part of the beloved community,

One:

God invites all of us to share in the good news:

Many:

We are welcome, just as we are. We are loved, just as we are.

In gratitude for all of this, let us worship God.

Hymn of Praise

God, Our Creator, You in Love Made Us

BUNESAN

The Prayer of Confession

in unison

Almighty God, you make all things new, yet we often choose to cling to our old ways. We prefer to do things the way they have always been done because they feel safe and known. Yet we are puzzled and angry when the results do not change. Forgive us for being set in our ways, for not opening our minds and our hearts to your ways. Jolt us out of our comfortable ruts that we may see with new vision and seek the way you would call us to go. Create us anew again and again. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

The Assurance of Forgiveness

One:

Friends, believe the Good News of the Gospel

Many:

In Christ we are all forgiven.

Anthem

Come, My Way, My Truth, My Life - Euguene Butler

Come my Way, my Truth, my Life, such a Way as gives us breath, such a Truth that ends all strife, such a Life that killeth death. Come my Light, my Feast, my Strength, such a Light as shows a feast, such a Feast as mends in length, such a Strength as makes his guest. Come my Joy, my Love, my Heart, such a Joy as none can move, such a Love as none can part, such as Heart that joys in Love.

The Church at Prayer

The Lord be with you. And also with you.

The Sharing of Joys and Concerns - Lord, hear our prayer.

The Lord’s Prayer

(in unison)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Praise to God the Father

DA N'ASE

The Prayer of Thanksgiving

(in unison)

Great God of Heaven and Earth, you call us to leave behind our preoccupations and to follow you into the future. Sometimes we find your call challenging. We are comfortable, maybe even complacent, in our present. May this act of giving be a gesture of our willingness to follow where you lead. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
