Summer Worship
For many years St. Philip's has taken the summer months to broaden our experience of worship by using prayers from various parts of the Anglican Communion. In recent years we have featured worship from the Celtic tradition. This summer we are using Eucharistic prayer from the Church of England that highlights the theme of Creation. The prayers of the people are taken from Native American/Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Liturgies, prepared for the 76th General Convention of the Episcopal Church. I hope you find that these words open up new images and help you to experience worship in new and refreshing ways.

Our Outdoor Worship Service will be Sunday, July 24 at 9:00am with a rain-out date for July 31. We will also have another ice cream social that day provided by Bishop Perry.
Film Festival
Join us Sunday afternoons
this summer
A couple of years ago St. Philip's participated in a wonderful diversity class with our local ecumenical churches. One of the key learnings was that many of us were woefully ignorant about the history of people of color. There were significant people and events that we didn't learn about in school.

We thought it might be fun this summer to fill in some gaps by watching movies -- one of my favorite summer pastimes. We'll watch the movies in the Great Hall. Popcorn and candy will be available for sale. And you are welcome to stay after the movie for a brief discussion.

Our first movie "Loving" tells the story of the couple involved in the landmark Supreme Court case that legalized interracial marriage nationally. Sheila Bareiss will lead a discussion after the movie and will share some of her personal experience.

I look forward to seeing you June 26.

“Going somewhere or nowhere?”
“Shh… Don’t make a sound.”
In silence we end up nowhere – the place where God speaks to us.
Many of us are traveling this summer and going somewhere. We have places to relax, people to visit, and joys to experience. We know, all too well, that going somewhere only takes the edge off of our desires. We simply end up where we began – a headful of stories to which . . .Read more here
