Stop Them!
Rev. Karin Kennedy Hejmanowski
Greetings!

It's a three day weekend for many of us. If you're out of town, I hope you'll take some time to join us for worship. On a weekend that is long as we remember those who lost their lives serving our nation, in worship we will remember the One Who gives us our very breath...the Holy Spirit. The Giver of Life.

I look foward to seeing you at 10:00 a.m. PDT. I am reminded each time we gather that we are better together. We strengthen one another, encourage one another, serve one another, comfort one another, and challenge one another.

So let's get together!

Peace,
Karin

Please join us immediately following the Sunday service for our Coffee Hour
(in-person in Trinity Court or online via Zoom).

Theme for Sunday

The Holy Spirit illuminates the minds of people, makes us yearn for God, and takes spiritual truth and makes it understandable to us.

Questions for Reflection
  • The verse just before this passage says this: The Lord said to Moses, “Is the Lord’s power limited? Now you shall see whether my word will come true for you or not.” How would you feel if you were Moses and God said that to you?

  • This passage talks about God taking some of the Spirit from Moses and giving it to the 70. How do you think this felt?

  • Have you had times you felt the Spirit of God? What was that experience like?
Numbers 11:24-30

So Moses went out and told the people the words of the Lord, and he gathered seventy of the elders of the people and placed them all around the tent. Then the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke to him and took some of the spirit that was on him and put it on the seventy elders, and when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied. But they did not do so again.

Two men remained in the camp, one named Eldad and the other named Medad, and the spirit rested on them; they were among those registered, but they had not gone out to the tent, so they prophesied in the camp. And a young man ran and told Moses, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.” And Joshua son of Nun, the assistant of Moses, one of his chosen men, said, “My lord Moses, stop them!” But Moses said to him, “Are you jealous for my sake? Would that all the Lord’s people were prophets and that the Lord would put his spirit on them!” And Moses and the elders of Israel returned to the camp.
