“Resurrection Life”
Rev. Evie Macway
This Wednesday: Evensong @ 7 pm
Greetings!

I get the pleasure of being your guest worship leader/preacher this Sunday. My husband Dave’s and my ties to SVPC go back many years. Our children were baptized here and our oldest daughter, Sarah and her husband Fjord, along with their two young sons, Levi and Isaac, are active members. I look forward to sharing this Sunday with you.

Our gospel text for worship this week takes place the first Easter evening. The disciples are struggling to wrap their minds and hearts around what has happened. As they are gathered the resurrected Christ comes among them, giving words of comfort and hope.

How are we doing in our post-Easter days 2024? How do Jesus’ words to his disciples that first Easter bring comfort, hope and call to us today?

Wishing you Eastertide blessings and I will see you on Sunday,
Rev. Evie Macway

Please join us immediately following the Sunday service for our Coffee Hour
(in-person in Trinity Court or online via Zoom).

Theme for Sunday

Hope opens something in the human heart. Like shutters slowly parting to admit a
winter dawn, hope permits strands of light to make their way to us, even when we
still stand in cold darkness; but hope also reveals a landscape beyond us into
which we can live and move and have our being.

Questions for Reflection
  • How do you define hope?

  • What gives you hope in your life now?
Psalm 65:5-8

By awesome deeds you answer us with deliverance,
O God of our salvation;
you are the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the farthest seas.
By your strength you established the mountains;
you are girded with might.
You silence the roaring of the seas,
the roaring of their waves,
the tumult of the peoples.
Those who live at earth’s farthest bounds are awed by your signs;
you make the gateways of the morning and the evening shout for joy.
