That They May Have Life
Rev. Karin Kennedy Hejmanowski
Greetings!

This week we continue in the celebration of Easter and so you'll continue to see our white paraments (fabrics up front and flying from the rafters) and the crown wrapped in white and gold to remind us of Jesus' resurrection.

I'm grateful Easter is a season and not just a day. While every Sunday is a mini celebration of Easter, the paraments and the music of Easter are a more present reminder of the power of God over death regardless of the headlines we read.

I look forward to joining with you in worship on Sunday, in-person or online at 10:00 a.m. California time!

Peace,
Karin

Please join us immediately following the Sunday service for our Coffee Hour
(in-person in Fellowship Hall or online via Zoom).

Theme for Sunday

“Don’t you know there is a limitless flow of life a superabundance of love and caring? You simply cannot exhaust it. It may be tough learning how to touch that current, how to get into that stream, to feel the flow and power of it, to be carried by it, but one thing is sure: the stream is there. And it is limitless.”

–N. Gordon Cosby, from his sermon “Inexhaustible Life”, preached Nov. 2, 1986

Questions for Reflection
  • Think of a voice of someone you know that you would recognize anywhere. What emotions does that voice conjure in you?
  • What would it look like to have an abundant life right now? Would it be about possessions? Something else? If something else, what is it?
John 10:1-10

“Very truly, I tell you, anyone who does not enter the sheepfold by the gate but climbs in by another way is a thief and a bandit. The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. They will not follow a stranger, but they will run from him because they do not know the voice of strangers.” Jesus used this figure of speech with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them.

So again Jesus said to them, “Very truly, I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and bandits, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the gate. Whoever enters by me will be saved and will come in and go out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
