“All Together Now”
Rev. Hardy Kim
Join us this Wednesday for the
Modern Worship Collective Service at 6:30 pm!
Greetings!

Have you ever had a truly positive experience of being part of a team? What made your team good? What were you able to accomplish together? And what made you feel good about the part you were playing?

For many of us, having this sense of strong teamwork is not something we get to experience all the time. In fact, it could be that your experiences of good teamwork are very rare, or something that happened a long time ago. Isn’t that a little bit sad?

I wonder what it would be like to take the things that make for good teamwork and apply them to our life of faith. How might our experience of serving God, even of our own selves, change if we thought about faithfulness as always a team endeavor? Come join us on Sunday to dream together with us in worship!

Your partner in ministry,
Hardy

Please join us immediately following the Sunday service for our Coffee Hour (in-person in Trinity Court or online via Zoom).

Fundraising is also always a call conversion. And this comes to both those who seek funds and those who have funds. Whether we are asking for money or giving money we are drawn together by God, who is about to do a new thing through our collaboration.

Questions for Reflection
  • What are some teams that you root for or admire? What makes them a good team?

  • What do you think the role of a leader on a team is? Is there anyone you know who embodies that role well?
Matthew 23:1-12

Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses’s seat; therefore, do whatever they teach you and follow it, but do not do as they do, for they do not practice what they teach. They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on the shoulders of others, but they themselves are unwilling to lift a finger to move them. They do all their deeds to be seen by others, for they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes long. They love to have the place of honor at banquets and the best seats in the synagogues and to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to have people call them rabbi. But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brothers and sisters. And call no one your father on earth, for you have one Father, the one in heaven. Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one instructor, the Messiah. The greatest among you will be your servant. All who exalt themselves will be humbled, and all who humble themselves will be exalted.
