Welcome to worship with First Baptist Church. When life brings too many unknowns, we wish for the life we had before, for the familiar. We thrive in the ordinary. This series is a reminder to maintain confidence in the strength of our extraordinary God found in the blessings of ordinary living. "Surely the LORD is in this place--and I did not know it!” - Genesis 28:16

Don't forget, tonight is our Tailgate Worship Gathering at the Activities Center at 7:30pm. Please join us for a special physical distancing time of worship as one church family.
"Un-Ordinary Dreams: Conflict in the Family”
Patrick Griffin, FBC Discipleship Intern
In the eyes of Jacob, Joseph was not an ordinary son. He was Jacob’s favorite, and this did not sit well with his brothers. The flaws in these familial relationships led to a terrible decision, one which caused great suffering. But where was God during this?

What’s your favorite thing to wear in the summer? Tshirts and shorts? A swimsuit? Beach hat? Flip flops? Today’s story starts off with a much loved item of clothing - a beautiful coat for Joseph. But that coat leads to trouble and many years of less than favored attire, yet in the end, Joseph is again given special clothes. Tune in as we watch the story continue to cycle through the good and bad!
Eternal God, you are present with us throughout our lives, even when others plot to do us harm. May we learn to live together in unity, that in all we do, we may sing your praises now and forever. Amen.
  • All families are flawed – the Bible is full of examples. How have you seen God work through these flaws in your family?
  • Even though these flaws exist, we can better love our families. How can you practically do this in your life?
  • Our actions have consequences and others may suffer as a result of them. How can you respond to those you have impacted?
Trusting in God with all we have, we give to support the work of God's church because we believe in our mission to share God's love with our community and world in the name of Jesus. Give online or by mail. Giving allows us to keep being the church, even in the absence of our physical presence. Mail to: 411 Market Street, Wilmington, NC 28401. How To Give Online
