Jesus asks powerful questions that are penetrating and revealing. They seem to come at critical moments and cut to the heart of the matter. When Jesus asks Bartimeus – What do you want me to do for you?  When he asks the disciples- Who are you following – What are you looking for? When he asks Peter – Who do you say that I am? Jesus wasn't looking for an answer; he was inviting transformation. In his disciples, in his followers... in US... here and now.
Often we assume that we are the ones responsible for making things happen in our lives; even when it comes to our faith. What if this is not true? What if faith is a gift to be received not a goal to be accomplished? And what if the parable of the Mustard Seed is not about the size of the seed or our faith but rather about the "hiddenness" of faith and the underlying work of God in our lives? Can we really trust that God is the creator and sustainer of the Universe? Even our lives?

Welcome to online worship with First Baptist Church. Let us join hearts together as we honor our Lord, Jesus Christ with our worship today.
OUR RESPONSE
Creating God, your reign of love makes all things new. Plant seeds of confidence and gladness in our hearts, so that, trusting your word, we may live no longer for ourselves but for him who died and was raised for us, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Trusting in God with all we have, we give to support the work of God's church because we believe in our mission to share God's love with our community and world in the name of Jesus. Give online or by mail. Giving allows us to keep being the church, even in the absence of our physical presence. (411 Market Street, Wilmington, NC 28401)
The Parable of the Mustard Seed is not so much about the size of the seed, or faith for that matter, but rather the hidden nature of God’s work. Where do you feel God working or growing in you HERE and NOW?
God desires to have a relationship with you! He has given us ways to know Him better through His son, Jesus Christ. Knowing God and having faith in Jesus is a personal and individual decision for each person. We would love to talk with you and help you begin or deepen your faith journey.
