Welcome to worship in this new kind of church experience. Even though we are physically separated, we continue to journey together as we grow toward being fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ through our worship.

Today is Pentecost, a Christian holy day that celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit. 40 days after Jesus was resurrected (10 days after he ascended into heaven), Peter and the early Church were in Jerusalem for Pentecost: "When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them." Acts 2:1–4

Today we begin a new sermon series, 'Two Simple Words: Follow Me'. Rev. Becca Jones will share a message to encourage us to be ‘recharged’ as we seek to follow Jesus. Now is the time to grab your notebook and bibles, share the link with a friend and let's worship together
Ever feel your battery running low? Jesus told the believers before he left them to wait for the Spirit. When the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost, believers were offered new power and hope to “Follow Me” in a new way. With that same rush of energy, our power can be renewed as we follow too.
God, we’ve entered into a new way of being church but at this Pentecost moment, we are not alone. Remind us of your deep love for us and renew our hope through your spirit. Holy Spirit, pour out on us as we anticipate who we will become and what you will do through us as you lead and guide.

Let us receive your Holy Spirit anew, like the rush of mighty wind that filled the house where those first believers were sitting – may we too be filled, recharged and renewed with your Holy Spirit, giving all thanks and glory to God whose power at work in us can do infinitely more than we could ask or imagine. Amen.
Trusting in God with all we have, we give to support the work of God's church because we believe in our mission to share God's love with our community and world in the name of Jesus. Give online or by mail. Giving allows us to keep being the church, even in the absence of our physical presence. Mail to: 411 Market Street, Wilmington, NC 28401

God desires to have a relationship with you! He has given us ways to know Him better through His son, Jesus Christ. Knowing God and having faith in Jesus is a personal and individual decision for each person. Do you have questions about being in a relationship with God? We would love to talk with you and help you begin or deepen your faith journey.
  • Remember a time when you were truly amazed. Those who experienced the coming of the Holy Spirit into their lives were amazed on that day. With whom could you share about God’s wonders?

  • Reflect about a time when you felt the power of the Holy Spirit guiding you to follow in your life. If you don’t have a story when you felt connected to or moved by the Holy Spirit, find someone else who can share their story with you. You may find that you have had that Holy Spirit experience but didn’t name it as such.

  • Where in our world do you see God at work right now? How is the Holy Spirit moving in you and inviting you to “Follow Me” in that work?
