Wednesday, August 12
We are trying something new! We are going to worship outdoors! We'll start by doing this on Wednesday nights, as a soft reopening. After a few weeks, we hope to offer outdoor worship on Sunday mornings as well. You can consider this a worship workshop, as we come together in a new way and figure out what works and what doesn't in an outdoor setting.
We highly encourage pre-registration. To register for the worship service on Wednesday, August 12, simply reply to this email with the name of each person in your household you'll be attending with. (In the future, registration will require an online form.)
Please bring your own chairs or blankets. Infants and toddlers may prefer portable cribs or strollers for the service.
The service will look and feel different than we're used to, but most of the liturgy will be included. For the first few weeks, we will not include communion. Once we figure out the logistics of safely serving communion, we will add it in.
We will continue with our online worship services. Please worship in the way that is most comfortable for you.
Read below to see how we will be staying safe while worshiping outdoors. The outdoor worship plan was approved by the St. Luke Council on August 6, 2020.
Hope to see some of you on Wednesday! Email me to register!
GUIDELINES FOR OUTDOOR WORSHIP
For everyone’s safety proper social distancing must be maintained.
Keep a distance of 6 feet between different households, before, during and after the service.
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. The Greeter/Usher will ask if household has pre-registered. If not, the Greeter/ Usher will take down their names before inviting the worshippers to find a spot.
Wear a mask during the entire service to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 to others.
Places will be marked to ensure proper social distancing.
· If you are by yourself, set your chair on top of the mark.
· If you are a couple together set your chairs close together on either side of mark.
· If you are a group of three or more people, cluster tightly around a mark. If you find you are encroaching on others then move your group to the outskirts of the marked area.
If you need to use the rest room, a path to the rest room will be marked inside the building. Worshippers are asked not to enter any other part of the building. Please maintain proper social distancing while waiting to use the rest room.
Stay home if you or someone in your household is experiencing COVID symptoms (cough, shortness of breath, fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell). This is simple courtesy.
Only our worship leaders will sing, but from a distance of over 25 feet, well over that considered to be safe outdoors.
Bring your own chairs, blankets, umbrellas, hand sanitizer, water, bug spray, etc.
In the event of rain, the outdoor service will be canceled and communicated via email, Facebook and website.
Children are welcome in the service but they must stay with their family the entire time. Nursery services will not be available.
Offering plates will be placed at the perimeter of the worship area.
No song books will be available. All texts for worship and lyrics for songs will be made available electronically on our Facebook page, website, and in the mid-week email.
You are encouraged to bring your own Bible.
Due to the fluid nature of the recommendations during this pandemic, guidelines and expectations are subject to change. Communication of changes will be updated on our website and in our weekly emails.
