Earth Day
Earth Day was Easter Monday, April 22nd.  When it comes to caring for God's creation of our beautiful planet, everyday day should be Earth Day. On Sunday, April 28th, special attention will be given to creation care during the service and also between services in the form of tables with resources on how all of us can better care for creation. We hope to form an eco-faith work group that will promote increased creation care for our church, our homes and our community. Please consider volunteering for the work group or at least signing up to be regularly notified about our work.
Fishing for Fishers of Men (and Fish)
Do you like to fish or have an interest in learning? Fishers of Men is a Men and Youth (14 or older) ministry that is excited for its third year and we're always looking for a few more good men!
We fish an area lake each Tuesday from 6-9 pm (weather and boat availability dependent) from late May through August. Fishers rotate to a new boat each week and take turns picking the lake and the terms of a friendly contest. If you have a boat and are interested in adding it to the lineup, great! But we typically are able to find enough boats with room for fishers who don't own their own boat. If you don't have much in the way of tackle or know how, no problem! Many of the guys have rods, tackle, and much knowledge to share!
There are two primary objectives of this ministry:
1) Holy fellowship among men
2) Enjoying God's beautiful creation and being thankful
Notice that catching fish is not included (full disclosure: this is as much of a reminder to the author as it is for the record ). If you are interested in being included, please contact Ray Valley or 651-303-5265 and he'll get you on the list!

He called out to them, "Friends, haven't you any fish?"
"No," they answered.
He said, "Throw your net on the right side of the boat
and you will find some."
When they did, they were unable to haul the net in
because of the large number of fish.
(John 21:5-6)"
Lenten Tapestry
Our congregation's tapestry is almost done and it is a wonderful work of art -- full of color and meaning. There are still spaces where you can add strands of color and places where you can attach something meaningful to you. We are all connected here at Our Savior's and the tapestry is not complete without you!"
April Book of the Month Club
The Book of the Month Club will meet on Monday, April 29th at 1:00 pm to discuss Small Great Things by Picoult. Hope to see you there.
14th Annual Senior Health and Faith Day
Date: Tuesday, April 30, 2019 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm at OSLC
Location:  Our Savior's Lutheran Church
Registration: Contact the church office
There's no charge to attend the free Senior Health and Faith Day, held by Lakeview Hospital's Faith Community Nurse Program. However, registration is required as space is limited.
Socks and Underwear Collection
The women of Our Savior's are collecting new socks and underwear in women and children's sizes. These items will be given to Lutheran Social Services to be used in their Safe House, an emergency shelter for youth ages 16 to 20 years old, and at Life Haven, which provides housing and support to 16 and 17 year old mothers and expectant mothers and their children experiencing homelessness. Items can be placed in the box in front of the Welcome Desk by May 2.
Guatemala Gala
The Guatemala Gala is coming up on Sunday, May 5, from 4-8:00 pm.  The Lutheran elementary school in Guatemala City needs to relocate as it currently resides near a steep ravine that is crumbling away. Monies raised will help to relocated this school. If you would like to learn more about our partners at the Guatemala Lutheran Church and would like to attend the gala, please talk with Sandy Fabio or Becky Maier.  Also needed are items for the silent auction at the Gala. If you have items that would be suitable for a silent or live auction, please also talk with Sandy Fabio or Becky Maier
Ministry Opportunities
Thyme for Grace

Our Savior's cooks have been busy in the kitchen and there are now fresh "Thyme for Grace" meals in the freezer for anyone in this congregation to take to someone who might have a special situation where a meal would be a boost.
  • These meals are intended to be shared for all occasions: birth, death, hospitalization of a family member, illness, surgery or just to provide a friendly visit with someone in need of companionship.
The meals can be found in the freezer in the kitchen supply room. Please be the eyes and ears of Our Savior's and share with the people that you know.
Think Stephen Ministry

You are the front lines of caring ministry in our congregation. Throughout the week, as you meet and greet those around you, think Stephen Ministry.  If you see people who are downcast or struggling through difficult times, think Stephen Ministry. Tell them about this special ministry in our congregation where they can receive the extra love and care they need to make it through the challenge or crisis they are facing. Then let our parish nurse, Stacy Meyer, know of the need.
Request for Prayers and Support
Everyday joys and sorrows...Once in a lifetime joys and sorrows. Your brothers and sisters at Our Savior's want to support you. Email or call Pastor Christine Wenzel or Parish Nurse, Stacy Meyer, with any of your needs.
