Adult Spiritual Formation - 10:00 am
We live in both the church year and in the cultural calendar, so we are drawn in this time to the symbol of the new year with its opportunities. Today we're discussing our awareness of and participation in freedom movements and the experiences we treasure along with experiences that have challenged us.

Message and Greetings from Immigration and Customs Enforcement ~ Pastor Ken
- We've often talked about Shadow Rock as a gathered and scattered church. Today Ken is visiting the Phoenix ICE Field Office. It's January 17, and the calendar gives us an opportunity to think differently about recognizing the work of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and our participation in immigration justice.
Call to Faithfulness
One: Google “MLK quotes.” Copy. Paste. Feel good about ourselves. Today can be so easy. Help us, Spirit of Life, to do instead the hard work of reckoning with our heritage of white supremacy and colonialism.
All: And yet in our reckoning, may we allow our hearts to stay soft.
One: Give us strength to stay the course and courage to face the challenges.
All: We need your wisdom and your compassion.
One: There is an urgency to the work of anti-racism, and we feel it. May we use every opportunity, every bit of imagination, every ounce of energy to realize your dream for the human family.
