you are welcome here!

Let's Get Started!

Flowers on the Communion Table
Flowers on the virtual communion table are from the Spencer family, celebrating three generations of wedding anniversaries in May:
Grandparents Julia and Robert Zaborowski on May 30th, parents Roy and Barbara Zaborowski on May 1st, and Tony and Abeth Spencer on May 26th.

Faith Formation
Our study of I Corinthians wraps up this week. In June, look for a super-practical skill building series on the basics of pastoral care. In this final week in I Corinthians, we're looking at Paul's long and rambling close to his letter. You'll find a guided document here and an accompanying YouTube video here . You'll find more formation resources (Spirituality Thursday videos) on the Shadow Rock Facebook page.

Prayer of Hope and Gratitude During Time of Pandemic
Opening Meditation and Prelude
Prelude "Let the Mystery Be" by Iris DeMent
Welcome and Announcements
Remember to check your email frequently for updates and news about our closure. Please reach out if you need help - you can always call the church office phone (602)993-0050 for instructions on how to connect with Pastor Ken, Lois, or preschool Director Liz Curry.

Shadow Rock’s Pastor’s Charitable Fund has seen a lot of action since our Christmas Eve offering. We anticipate additional needs and want to have the capacity to respond with compassion and action. Also, please consider supporting Daniel Nantz by contributing to his GoFundMe page .

We continue to learn new techniques and attempt different ways to keep connected during this time. We appreciate your support and patience and always welcome your suggestions!
Call to Worship and Opening Prayers
Call to Worship
Shared by Linda Johnston
You’re invited to add another dimension to your time of devotion and spiritual awareness. Grab a candle. Ever since humanity discovered fire, flame has been a symbol of community and spiritual presence. Light your candle and join me in this Call to Worship:

In our scattered places let us be together in our hearts.

For here together we will weave the threads of our lives
into a wondrous vision; a bright new tapestry of dreams of times to come.

As a workman gathers tools
As a poet gathers images
As a musician gathers a band
As a scholar gathers arguments
As a writer gathers stories
As a preacher gathers texts
So God gathers the people for service.

So as a people both scattered and gathered, let us celebrate.

Opening Prayer
(from She Who Prays, A Woman’s Interfaith Prayer Book )
Loving God, we remember all those who have experienced armed conflict, whether in the military or as civilians. Most especially we lift up those whose living conditions are so desperate they see fighting as the only way to a better life. We ask for dramatic changes for those who feel so hopeless. We lift up those who have been injured in war, whether physically, emotionally or spiritually. We also ask for healing for the families of those who were killed, and for the injured and their families. We remember the damage done to ecosystems during times of war, and ask for healing for earth and sky. We pray this day in the name of the Prince of Peace. Amen.

The Prayer of Jesus
Our Loving God who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day, our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
And the power and the glory forever.  Amen.

Offering
The Spirit blesses all gifts; the Spirit blesses all givers. When we give, we find ourselves in a space of gratitude for the gifts of healing, peace, and life itself.

Thank you everyone for your love and support of Shadow Rock! Your financial support and donations are more important than ever as we go through this unprecedented time of uncertainty. Thank you if you are an E-giver, as this helps with a consistent cash flow and support of all our ministries.  Click here to read Heidi's Corner for current numbers. Please, consider trying E-giving for a season as we are not receiving mail at this time.  If you’d like to try E-giving or would like to donate to any of the special offerings please follow these links to Donate Now, or contact Heidi.

If you are in need of food, utility assistance, water, or medications, please contact any staff or board member.
The Word About Life For Today
Message: Essential Functions: Breaking of Bread
Shared by Rev. Ken Heintzelman
Words for Mission and Sending Forth
Let us embrace the wonder of this week with expectation and imagination.

Be still...

And let nature's peace wash over you.
like waves lapping over stones
smoothing our rough edges of worry
leaving smooth, shining love.

May we each be wholly present in our own lives,
ready to be surprised by the wonder
of each ordinary moment.
Go into the week with peace warm under your feet
and with wind blowing as the breath of the Spirit before you.

These are the times!
We are the people.
All of Creation is blessed.
May we love all and serve all.
May God be with you.
Amen.

Sending Forth Music
"Together We’re Strong"
A word about this song from the National Youth Event 2020 Team: This original song, written for NYE, is an uplifting symbol of unity in these extraordinary times. In it, we are reminded: we have wisdom, purpose, and youth. Even though NYE will not happen in 2020, we know without a doubt that God's love for us remains and we are stronger than we have ever been.
