Dear Beloved St. Paul’s UMC and Wesley Foundation Family,

Grace and peace to you, beloved ones! I hope you can tell how excited we are about this series we are currently in. What a gift it is to talk about the ways our faith intersects with the things we learn, and the way the world continues to amaze us. This weekend we will be thinking about awe, and how, when we are truly open to experiencing awe, it could change our posture towards the world and those who see things differently. What if practicing awe and wonder was a way for us to build bridges between the Church and the Academy; between faith and science? Come and join the conversation with us tomorrow in-person or online, as we look together for a way to awe.

text that reads a way to awe finding god at the intersection of faith and the academy

Discussion Questions

(1) What things make you feel awe? What did you notice about the awe in Psalm 19, or in our opening hymn, “Earth and All Stars!”? Did anything in our worship today make you think about other ways of experiencing awe and wonder?

(2) As we think about the relationship between faith and science, or between the Church and the Academy, how do you think awe is something that connects us?

(3) How might we practice awe? And how might this change our posture towards the world around us, and our university neighbors?
