Resources as You Look Ahead
Rev. Joshua Patty
Regional Minister and President
Summer months are wonderful opportunities to try new things in worship. They also can be a good time to look ahead. Here are some resources that may jumpstart your creative juices.
Free Online Conference on Digital Ministry
The Digital Ministry Summit, sponsored by Convergence and digivangelism, will feature conversations about the use of technology in ministry, including worship. You can watch videos of these conversations for free on the day they are released (or you can pay a registration fee for anytime access). I have participated in many other Convergence conferences for free; the only thing they have done is add me to their emails, which I enjoy.
Over 25 conversations will premiere between June 27 and July 1. Learn more and register here.
Recent Conversations Led by Our General Minister
Most Fridays, our General Minister, Rev. Terri Hord Owens, releases new videos to encourage and help the church. 1-2 times each month, these are 25-30 minute conversations with other church leaders.
In the past month, these conversations have included interesting ideas for worship. One features a conversation with two church planters -- one of whom leads a dinner church where worship occurs around a meal. Another focuses on the communications needs of the hybrid -- or phygital -- church, including tips for digital worship.
Juneteenth Prayers
Looking for last minute ideas for this Juneteenth Sunday, June 19? The Interfaith Alliance of Iowa shares many resources, including a prayer specifically written for this year. Disciples Home Missions also provides some Juneteenth worship materials.
