A WORD FROM OUR COUNCIL PRESIDENT
Greetings again, St. Peter’s! I’m back for Week 2!

Here is a glimpse into my day to day. I work full time, albeit from home most days since March. Dustin and I are also attempting to raise two wild animals that eventually turn into well behaved humans someday. This also feels like a full time job most days. Somehow in this time of Covid sluggishness, days feel busier for our family. Simple tasks are harder to do because the kids need much more of our attention these days. Simple errands take more time because just popping into a store is no longer a reality. People are angrier these days, and being in public for short bursts feels a little too much to bear at times. I lay down at the end of the night having not accomplished much, but feeling exhausted. Most nights I can’t even get through my prayers without falling asleep mid-sentence. Sometimes I give up because I don’t even know where to start when this world feels a little too heavy. Maybe you feel like me? Maybe you’re a much better pray-er than I am, and you schedule it in your day? Either way, I thought I would share something from a book that we read in our Red Hot Mom Squad last year that has helped me focus lately. If you’ve never read Anne Lamott’s “Help, Thanks, Wow”, I cannot recommend it enough. Her basic premise is to boil your prayers down to:

Help
Thanks
Wow

Mine today were this.
Lord, HELP me to keep my sanity when struggling to make phone calls with children in the background that completely forgot how to use “inside voices”.
THANKS for the kind comments and encouragement from our congregation’s members, I received in the past week. It was so uplifting!
WOW! When the world feels divisive and outraged, look around at all the folks wiling to wear masks. They are not wearing it for their own protection, but rather for your protection, and mine, or their elderly neighbor, or their friend that is immune compromised, or a perfect stranger in the grocery store. It is a helpful reminder to me that most people are good.

Again, from the President’s Corner:
Do you know someone who serves on a committee, or are you are friends with someone on council, or maybe you want to offer some encouragement to our hard working staff members? Take a second and say Thank You! Send an email or a text, or drop a note in the mail. Their jobs and their hours of service have significantly changed since they first agreed to serve for our congregation. As always, I am so proud to be a part of this congregation and am so thankful for the amazing leaders that step up to make the really tough decisions we are facing right now!

We will certainly be glad to have PV back at the helm back next week.

Take care, St. Peter’s, and have a great weekend!

NEED A LUTHERAN MASK?
We still have some home-made masks in the bin by the Portico entrance. Yet, if you would like to do sometime a bit BOLDER, check out the options at OLDLUTHERAN.COM.
WORSHIP UPDATE
Join our live-stream worship this Sunday at 9AM!

Lessons Learned from last week:
  • The announcements will be slower and easier to read.

  • We have a better handle on overlay transitions.

  • Audio echo should be eliminated this week.

  • The live-stream begins about 5 minutes before 9AM. It's like opening the doors early for those folks who like to arrive early to worship.

  • Once live-stream worship finished, YouTube has to process the video it has been recording. This can take anywhere from 1 to many hours depending on the traffic they are handling Sunday mornings. Be patient if you are one who watches worship not right at 9am.

To watch the live-stream worship, you can:
  • click the video link in the Saturday worship email.
  • go to our YouTube channel and click the video.
  • watch from our St. Peter's page on Facebook.

REMEMBER: If you subscribe to our YouTube Channel or Facebook page , your mobile device will be notified when we go live.
JOIN THE NEW A/V TEAM!

Please contact Olivia Cheesman if you would like to learn more about helping run our live-stream equipment for worship.

BIBLE STUDY AT HOME
Faith is scripture is rarely a noun...but most often a verb...an active and alive thing. Faith is like muscles, requiring exercise to stay healthy and strong. While we are in Diaspora (separated...), use these short videos as a weekly way of growing in your faith and love.

This week we talk about how God provides mercy and justice. Many times in our lives we question God through our choices, here we see that God is able to forgive and provide mercy. This week's Bible Study is a look at the "Character of God" and how God is capable of balancing Justice and Mercy
Dig deep into the studying the "Character of God."
