Worship Update:
Communion to be Added
to Outdoor Prayer
Beginning Sunday, July 12 at 8 am

As we strive to offer opportunities that meet the worship needs and desires of each of you, while at the same time respecting different levels of risk tolerance, we have prayerfully and carefully considered when we can again offer Holy Communion. The worship team and church council have decided to begin offering Holy Communion at the Sunday morning 8 am outdoor prayer service beginning Sunday, July 12. While outdoor prayer will take place rain or shine, Communion will only be offered if the weather is clear.

Things you need to know:
  • You will be asked to sign in for accurate contact tracing.
  • Bring your own chairs to place on the lawn.
  • Plan to sit with appropriate social distancing of at least 6 feet.
  • Masks are essential during spoken portions of worship and when receiving Communion.
  • Print your own bulletin and/or have access to it on a digital device.
  • Musicians will provide contemplative music to enhance our prayer gathering experience.
  • The format will be a short worship/prayer experience including Communion lasting approximately 30 minutes, from 8-8:30 am.
  • If you are in a high risk category, or have a fever the morning of worship, or have been exposed to COVID-19, please stay home and worship online.

How will Communion happen?
  • Those preparing the elements will follow all guidelines, including wearing masks, washing hands, and making sure that all serving pieces are sanitized.
  • After sanitizing their hands, Pastor Sara will carry wafers and a server will carry a tray of pre-poured wine or grape juice. Both will approach each individual or family group.
  • Wait until Pastor Sara and the server have moved on before removing your mask to partake of the sacrament.
  • Anyone who would prefer to receive a “blessing from afar” should indicate that by crossing their arms across their chest.

What happens in case of rain?
  • We will still offer outdoor worship but it will be drive-in style worship without Communion.
  • Park facing the portico and tune in to 101.7 FM to hear the service.
