Greetings!

So great to write this note to you. And a great pleasure and joy to serve with you as we seek to honor the Lord in everything we do. It was good to be reminded from Colossians 1 last Sunday about the four most powerful prayer requests for the people of God. In reality, these prayers are essential for us as we celebrate our strength in Christ as believers. Paul told those believers to be at the center of the knowledge of God’s will, to live lives worthy of the Lord Jesus, to be strengthened by the power of God, and to be joyfully thankful to God. Through the Lord Jesus Christ, God has qualified us, included us, rescued us from the dominion of darkness around us, and forgiven us! Wow, what cause for thankfulness and gratitude!
 
Thank you for your faith, love, hope, fruit bearing, and spiritual leadership! We are strong because of Christ our Savior as we serve Him.
 
This is evident everywhere in and through the life and ministries of our church family. Take a fresh look at all God is doing through the ministry of The Bridge. By the way, I hope you have signed up and receive The Bridge newsletter. This week’s edition tells it all and then some. Strongly and deliberately, get involved. You will be so blessed.
 
Under Jordan Cramer’s leadership, our families enjoyed a fantastic evening on Wednesday evening.
Over 200 people were there for the WE ARE FAMILY evening and, judging by the wonderful response, it was really a blast. After the kids started their programming, the parents heard from several of our key ministers and ministry areas. The model prayer of the Lord Jesus as read in John 17 led to a great time of prayer, and a fresh focus was given and received. 
 
The Tuesday evening Men’s Bible Study led by Seth Buckley is really going well, and the Women’s Bible studies and events are getting into high gear under the leadership of Julie Finley.
 
Thank you also for your spiritual commitment to the giving of God’s tithe and your offerings. If not, get started. God will bless you for sure. It is His plan and His way. Together we are strong, including in our unified giving.

We are very grateful for the continued faithful stewardship of so many to First Baptist Spartanburg. As we move into fall, we often think of the harvest and 2 Corinthians 9:6, “The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” Thank you for sowing bountifully through your giving so that more people can be reached with the gospel of Jesus Christ. As a reminder, here are some of the many options you can consider as you think about your financial stewardship:
 
1.  We will continue to collect tithes and offerings at the end of each service or you can use one of the drop boxes around the church.
2.  Online giving (one-time or recurring) through our Realm giving platform at  www.fbs.org/give is available 24/7. Currently over 40% of all gifts are given online.
3.  Vision 2020 – consider making an extra gift above your tithe to prepare for the relaunch of Vision 2020.
4. If you would like to give stock, please call our Business Office at 864-699-4225 and they can tell you how to have it transferred directly to the church.
5. If you are over 70 ½ and have to take a Required Distribution from your IRA, talk to your tax advisor about how you can send that directly to the church and save on taxes.
6. If you prefer to mail in your gift please send it to 250 East Main St. Spartanburg, SC 29306.
7. This may also be a good time to review your will and considered how you can bless First Baptist by establishing a legacy gift through your estate. September Prayer Focus
Focusing this month on the Janie Chapman Offering that supports our State Missions and initiatives, including Connie Maxwell Children’s Home that provides hope for children & families in crisis of South Carolina, and whose mission is to care for children while developing and strengthening positive relationships in a Christian environment.  Pray for the children, their families, and for the staff at Connie Maxwell that operates their main facility in Greenwood. Pray for the staff and children who come into their crisis care program. Pray for Connie Maxwell to be a place of unity, and that the staff and students will encourage each other and be a light to the community.
