This Saturday @ the Garden
Saturday morning July 13th 7:30 am to 9:00 am is the next Community Garden Gathering. The organic produce from the garden goes to families who are part of Beacon Place in Waukegan. If you’d like to participate in the garden but can’t make Saturday morning—no worries! Contact ZACH for questions and information and we’ll figure out a way for you to get involved.

Additional weddings in the coming week include Chris & Ken Hall's daughter Jen marrying Sam "The Man" Marshall and Claire Spadafora's marriage to Joe @ the Newberry Library - Claire's dad David was President of Lake Forest College and is responsible for the College saying "yes" to the Community Church renting Lily Reid Holt Chapel 20 years ago. Dr. Jim Kreutzer who's part of our church family produced the movie, which is about much more than golf - please bring the family! Check out the Tommy's Honour TRAILER

Babbling Bohemian -
Matt Dewar Is Up!
B abbling Bohemian is the newly created Community Church podcast that seeks to share the many remarkable lives in the church and the community of Lake Forest & Lake Bluff. This week we release our 7th episode that features a conversation with Matt Dewar, Ed.D.
Matt is known around this community for two things: 1. Wellness coaching, and 2. As an outstanding wellness and English teacher at Lake Forest High School. But these are Matt’s roles in the community. My conversation with Matt, that just scratches the surface in nearly two hours of conversation, reveals some of the fascinating details that have shaped Matt into the person that he is. If you listen, you’ll hear about Matt’s morning ritual of soaking in ice water and how his elementary teacher who was a nun said he was the most spiritually gifted person she had ever encountered . No kidding. You’re going to want to listen to this one. If you like what you hear, go back and listen to the other interviews. And when you do, send us a note and let us know what you thought Email Zach

The Intelligentsia Cup begins July 19th and arrives in Lake Bluff on Saturday July 27th (the second to last day of the 10 day event).
The Community Church in partnership with World Bicycle Relief, Lake Bluff Brewery, and the Intelligentsia Cup are selling Lake Bluff Brewery Beer at the bike race!
Question : Why would a church collaborate on selling beer at a bike race?
Answer : Because 50% of the purchase price of a beer ($6) goes directly to World Bicycle Relief, a Chicago-based non-profit organization that puts sturdy Buffalo bicycles into the hands of people in the developing world who desperately need transportation for school and work (business, medicine). To learn more about WBR viste the website HERE .
The Community Church is also organizing a raffle at the bike race . Purchase of a $1 raffle ticket will give you a chance to win a bicycle (three models to choose from). A big thank you to Intelligentsia and Lake Bluff Hub and Cycle for providing the bicycle. All raffle proceeds will go towards WBR and funding Buffalo bicycles.
Come on down to enjoy the bicycle races and don’t forget to stop by the beer tent and raffle table—we’ll be there! It’s the easiest way to give to a good cause you’re likely to ever find.

Hi Everyone,

I hope your 4th was as wonderful as mine! Time with grandchildren, sailing, watching fireworks from the beach. Life just doesn’t get better!

This Sunday we’ll have the bluegrass duo Don Stiernberg & Chris Walz playing for the beach service. Don is a frequent guest and most of you know his music. He is absolutely a huge favorite for the Community Church and, well frankly, many folks around the world! He also, along with a boatload of musicians that play for us on a regular basis, will be donating his time for the Arts For Alzheimer’s event in September. I’m humbled by the response I’ve received from my fellow musicians when I’ve asked them to help. I think much of that goes back to the love you all shower upon them. Stay tuned as I’ll be sharing a lot more information on this event in the coming weeks.

Friday: Elliott at the Lake Bluff Farmers Market and later at Little Tails in Lake Forest starting at 7:30

Saturday: Many of you will remember Amy Susan Heard , who graced us with her wonderful voice last fall. She’s passing through for a private house concert, but will also be doing a short set at Be Market from 6-7 pm. She’ll be performing some originals of her own and also some songs penned by her late sister. This would be a great place to hear some wonderful music before heading somewhere for dinner or just hanging and having some of the awesome healthy food offered by owner Vade Sankar at Be Market. Amy will also be at the Arts for Alzheimer’s event and singing for our final beach service on September 22nd.
