Worship Sunday, August 9th

Sunday: The scripture readings for Sunday, August 9, are Exodus 1:8-2:10; Psalm 138; Romans 12:1-8 and Matthew 16:13-20. Next week's message, "What will your verse be?", will be on the passage from Romans and the movie Dead Poets Society. The movie is also available on our website. Sunday is a contemporary service and we will also do a blessing of the backpacks as school begins.

Questions to help you prepare: What does it mean not to be conformed to the world? How do we transform our minds? How do those things impact how we live? What do you think is your function in the body of Christ? How does this idea get played out in the film?

We invite you join us Sunday morning at 9 a.m. in the Friendship Center. We will begin the study a new study on Adam Hamilton's book Unafraid: Living with Courage and Hope in Uncertain Times.

In this study based on his book Unafraid, Adam Hamilton explores the most common worries and fears experienced by Americans today. He considers practical steps for overcoming these fears, and reflects upon fear in the light of Scripture and a faith that promises again and again that we don't need to live in fear. We can live with courage and hope.
