Sermon: "Becoming Christlike"

The Rev. Mark Dickinson, Settle Memorial senior pastor

Sermon Outline: To view a printable sermon outline, click here.

“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” - Philippians 2:5-11

“From the very beginning, God decided that those who came to him should become like his Son …" - Romans 8:29

God wants you to ____________________.

How does God help us become like Jesus …

God uses ____________________ to teach us to trust him.

“…troubles produce patience. And patience produces character, and character produces hope.” - Romans 5:3-4

God uses ____________________ to teach us to obey him.

“Fix your thoughts on what is true and good and right.” - Philippians 4:8

God uses ____________________ to teach us to forgive.

“Forgive others, just as God forgave you because of Christ.” - Ephesians 4:32

“We go through exactly what Christ goes through. If we go through the hard times with him, then we’re certainly going to go through the good times with him.” - Romans 8:17

“Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 2:5
