An update from Mrs. Kimberly

Friends, Sunday School is off to an amazing start this fall - with record-breaking attendance! It is a true blessing to see so many children in church with their Bibles, eager to learn and grow in their faith.Check out this stunning group of 3rd graders that showed up in full force - 22 were present for our very first Sunday School of the year!

As this important ministry continues to thrive, so does our need for faithful servants who feel called to pour into the next generation. I want to personally encourage you and your family to fully live out your baptismal commitment-our covenant with God-by helping to nurture and serve our children. This isn’t just volunteer work, it’s ministry that comes with deep joy, purpose and rewards!

Whether you’re gifted in teaching, storytelling, organizing, hospitality, or simply being present, there is a place for you. Right now, we are specifically in need of:

  1. Volunteers to help with our Christmas Pageant, and
  2. A VBS Chair and Co-Chair to help lead one of our biggest outreach events of the year.

The Christmas Pageant is a simple and meaningful way to serve, requiring as little as one hour of your time.

If you feel called to step into one of the VBS leadership roles, I would love to connect with you! Our former VBS Chairs have everything organized, documented, and ready to hand off, so you won’t be starting from scratch.

Children’s Messages During Advent

Next month during Advent, our Children’s Messages in worship will explore God’s gifts using The Best Gift Ever Given: A 25-Day Journey Through Advent from God’s Good Gifts to God’s Great Son. Over the four Sundays of Advent, we’ll discover God’s goodness and celebrate the true gift of Christmas.

This beloved book was introduced to me years ago by my friend Laurie Harrell, and it has become a Christmas tradition in our family. We invite you to purchase a copy and follow along with us at home!

Generous Helping Returns

Generous Helping is one of HBUMC’s well-loved traditions! It’s a night when our entire congregation comes together under one roof for dinner, fellowship and service. Join us on Wednesday, December 3, starting at 5:00 PM for this special evening. Be sure to register for dinner in advance.

This year, Children’s Ministry is excited to offer two service opportunities for families:

  • Assembling toiletry kits for the Boys & Girls Club
  • Decorating Christmas cards for our In-Crowd members

We hope you’ll join us as we serve our community and spread Christ’s love in simple, hands-on ways.

Nursery Reminder

Don’t forget to bring a labeled diaper bag when dropping off your youngest disciples! Bottles, sippy cups, diapers, pacifiers, and a change of clothes are always helpful and greatly appreciated by our staff. Thank you for helping us care for your little ones!

Calling all Elementary Artists

We need your help designing our next set of greeting cards! Each week, our Pastors send cards to brighten the day of someone in our congregation and your artwork could be on the front!

Thank you for being a part of all that God is doing in our Children’s Ministry!

With gratitude,

Kimberly Powers
