KCGM Fimiston Mill Shutdown February 2015
Congratulations to all KCGM employees and the several hundred various contractors who participated in the recent Fimiston Mill Shutdown throughout early February.
With temperatures averaging over 40 Degrees Celsius for most of the 2 week shutdown, everyone on-site pulled together to get their jobs completed safely with minimal incidents.
A huge round of applause goes out to Burgess Laser Aligning (BLA) and Goldfields Crane Hire for the SAG Mill Girth Gear change out.

NEW Lightweight CAT 793 Aluminium Ladders! 

Check out the new 793 ladders CME Boilermaking are fabricating and trialling in aluminium instead of steel:

 

  • Engineered, certified and FEA tested, these ladders reduce the weight by half, which in turn reduces the stress and pressure on the ram lifting the ladders up.
  •  Uses the same Caterpillar grip pattern on the steps and looks like a standard cat part.
  • Aluminium handrails, powder coated yellow.
  • Hi-vis sticker on the treads and down the ladder sides.
  • The major advantage is the weight reduction, the Aluminium ladder doesn't transfer a huge load on to parts, which were not originally designed to take this weight.
  • Aluminium also can have the same life span and strength as steel.
