Josh and Jake Returned to Foster Care
Twins Josh and Jake were born early, addicted to illegal drugs and with lots of medical needs. After a year in a foster home, they were placed with a family member who quickly became overwhelmed by their medical needs. The boys' Dallas CASA volunteer Wathenia was there to recommend the boys be allowed to return to the foster home where they'd been for a year.

For Volunteer, Representation Matters
For Dallas CASA volunteer Veronica Redmon, the journey to volunteering started with the example set by her grandmother. Today, she's setting an example herself by volunteering as a child advocate. She hopes the children she's serving see that and know how much they have to offer the world, too.

Young Professionals' CASAblanca a Hit
CASAblanca, hosted by Dallas CASA's Young Professionals' auxiliary, drew a sold-out crowd of more than 400 to The Hall on Dragon for casino games, live music, a silent auction and more. All funds raised at the event support the children served by Dallas CASA.

Special thanks to Anuka Dhakal, Brooke Donelson and Melissa Wong, event co-chairs. If you know of a company that might be interested in being a presenting sponsor of this popular event, please contact Megan Dion.
Comerica Bank Prom Event Benefits Teens Served by Dallas CASA
Your gently used formal wear could make a local teen’s prom night an unforgettable experience. Comerica Bank is collecting gently used and clean prom dresses and formal wear for local teens who dream of a special prom night. Formal wear may be dropped off at select Comerica Bank locations. On two special weekends in March, Dallas CASA's training room is transformed into a prom shopping boutique. For many teens who have experienced abuse or neglect and are living in the protective care of the state, their prom may feel overlooked as they face real-world concerns like where they can safely live. But thanks to the prom drive, these teens can dream of their own special night. Since the drive began in 2015, Comerica has collected and donated almost 5,600 items of formal wear to Dallas CASA and Boys & Girls Club of Greater Dallas.

Clergy, CASA and the Community
Dallas CASA was selected to serve as one of three pilot programs for Texas CASA's new faith-based initiative called Clergy, CASA and the Community. Since then, Dallas CASA's Faith Outreach Team has worked with a number of Dallas-area faith communities seeking partnerships and shared support for children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Dallas CASA volunteer Pam LeTourneau recently shared with Texas CASA her experience on the team.

Dallas CASA Volunteer Recognized by
US House of Representatives
Dallas CASA volunteer Tracy Chumbley was recently recognized by the United States House of Representatives for his service to the United States Navy, to the city of Garland as a firefighter and to Dallas CASA, where he has served as a child advocate since 2019.

Thank you for your incredible work, Tracy!

Cherish the Children Luncheon Will Honor Hoglunds May 5
Dallas CASA is pleased to honor Sally Hoglund and her daughter Kristy Hoglund Robinson with the 2023 Caroline Rose Hunt Cherish the Children Award at the Cherish the Children luncheon May 5.

Both Sally and Kristy are personally and deeply committed to making the lives of children better. Founded by Sally and Forrest Hoglund, The Hoglund Foundation has supported Dallas CASA initiatives and walked in lockstep with Dallas CASA as the agency grew its capacity to serve more children. For nearly 30 years, Sally has been an avid supporter of the Cherish the Children luncheon. Kristy has been on the Dallas CASA Board of Directors since 2017 and served as co-chair of the 2017 Champion of Children Award dinner. But most importantly, Kristy became a sworn Dallas CASA volunteer advocate in 2015, working on a complicated and complex case involving three children who remained in foster care until 2021. Kristy was committed from the beginning to the promise of a brighter future for the children.

Dallas CASA invites you to join us as we honor the Hoglunds and thank them for their tremendous dedication to children.
