Dear Friends,

Through the opening months of 2024 the Marshfield School of Weaving has been faced with changes and transitions, some foreseen, and many unexpected. Our team—the Board of Directors and staff—have faced these challenges together and recognized the value of this time as an opportunity. In this period of transition, we reflected on the organization’s mission and the needs of our dedicated community, then set out to find a space to continue this fine craft tradition.

And we found it!

Our spacious new home on the common in Newbury, Vermont, provides an accessible, historic, and centralized space to build on the principles we hold dear to craft, community, and connection. In the coming months staff and board will spend time cataloging equipment, moving, and planning for a new year, all while continuing to offer the finest instruction in traditional textile making.

The people of Newbury have embraced our presence in their town wholeheartedly; our students—the heart of the Marshfield School of Weaving—have offered their help in countless ways; our united board has risen to a variety of challenges; and our staff has shown skill and competence guiding us through. We are excited to begin anew, recognizing there are many tasks ahead.

Every non-profit relies on financial stability to weather challenging times, and in this pivotal year we turn to you, the community who is the Marshfield School of Weaving, for help in raising operational funds. We have faced some of the biggest challenges in the school’s history, but together we can embrace a new challenge: to realize our fullest potential as a school and as a community.
