I had a wonderful experience introducing our youngest son to many of you that had only heard about him until this summer.
Sometimes during the years when you are leading the team even though you are surrounded by people and very exciting circumstances you get lonely. I am sure every leader feels the same way. Since Willie has joined our team, it is so fun & encouraging to share decision making on every project.
God’s favor was upon us on the entire trip. There’d be bad weather all around us but we managed to travel where the weather was absolutely perfect. I would say to Bob & Willie that we needed to wash the van before our next destination and we would wake up the next day to hit the road and it had rained during the night and the van, no kidding, was sparkling.
In twenty-four days, we had zero car trouble and because of so many hospitable/kind/generous people, we only spent six nights in hotels. One more precious thing is that Willie not only drove every mile, carried our suitcases, and before we left he made a lofted bed in the back for whoever needed a rest along the way.
If you asked Willie ten years ago if he ever thought he would be working his dream job at Wells 4 Wellness and taking his aging parents on a month-long road trip, he probably would have said no way. Actually, he said he had a great time.
For those who know me well, I love my country and the 4th of July has always been my favorite holiday. This year we were in Minneapolis after driving six hours and managing to have three different appointments. We strolled the riverwalk, ate dinner and considered staying out until the fireworks but instead we used wisdom and walked back to our hotel. We were sharing about the day and all of a sudden, we heard the boom of the fireworks. We opened the shade of this big picture window, and high above the street was a perfect view of the magnificent colors of the celebration. Maybe the best 4th of July ever, relaxing from our beds watching the fireworks.
