Dear Pat,

What a summer! We completed our twenty-four day promotional tour, visiting twelve states and covering five thousand miles of open road!

We had so many opportunities to share the mission, show the documentary, and visit with donors & volunteers who are really our family & friends. It was truly incredible to see so many people, and I look forward to the time when I can see those of you I missed due to our tight travel schedule.

God is so good to Wells 4 Wellness, while traveling across the country we received a $100,000 matching grant from a private foundation! This means that every dollar that is donated, a second dollar will be matched by the grant.

DONATING $1 IS LIKE DONATING $2!

I had a wonderful experience introducing our youngest son to many of you that had only heard about him until this summer.

Sometimes during the years when you are leading the team even though you are surrounded by people and very exciting circumstances you get lonely. I am sure every leader feels the same way. Since Willie has joined our team, it is so fun & encouraging to share decision making on every project.

God’s favor was upon us on the entire trip. There’d be bad weather all around us but we managed to travel where the weather was absolutely perfect.  I would say to Bob & Willie that we needed to wash the van before our next destination and we would wake up the next day to hit the road and it had rained during the night and the van, no kidding, was sparkling.

In twenty-four days, we had zero car trouble and because of so many hospitable/kind/generous people, we only spent six nights in hotels.  One more precious thing is that Willie not only drove every mile, carried our suitcases, and before we left he made a lofted bed in the back for whoever needed a rest along the way.

If you asked Willie ten years ago if he ever thought he would be working his dream job at Wells 4 Wellness and taking his aging parents on a month-long road trip, he probably would have said no way.  Actually, he said he had a great time.

For those who know me well, I love my country and the 4th of July has always been my favorite holiday.  This year we were in Minneapolis after driving six hours and managing to have three different appointments.  We strolled the riverwalk, ate dinner and considered staying out until the fireworks but instead we used wisdom and walked back to our hotel. We were sharing about the day and all of a sudden, we heard the boom of the fireworks.  We opened the shade of this big picture window, and high above the street was a perfect view of the magnificent colors of the celebration. Maybe the best 4th of July ever, relaxing from our beds watching the fireworks.

We were able to show the documentary several times. We met many new people that are now supporters. Everywhere we went we felt so loved & welcomed. We were treated like rock stars! We spoke in churches, schools, homes, and we even made it on the radio!

Willie, our new Operations Director, can be serious when he needs to be, but he loves having fun too! So, while driving through the Badlands Willie did a balancing act, then had to stop and get the Wall Drug five cent cup of coffee.

We also saw Koyejo’s son David, Neal Child’s sister Sarah and mother Jerry who is also in the documentary. Jerry is the reason why we do what we do in Niger.

I have two things I need your help with. Firstly, Niger is flooding right now and they need prayer. It is so hard to believe, but the desert is getting soaked with rain and the water is raging too hard for our team to drill, so we need your prayers.

Secondly, since we have been awarded the $100,000 matching grant, we would love your involvement. One easy & fun way to help is to gather people and show the documentary. Think of churches, schools, clubs, friends, family, Halloween/Harvest parties, Thanksgiving, Christmas. We are happy to help you discover new ways to share the heart and mission of Wells 4 Wellness, so let us know how we can help you. Thank you for your love & generosity!
