To thank you for supporting
indigenous for our anniversary, we will be giving away
DOOR PRIZES (handmade of course) throughout the
WoW on Friday, August 17, 6-10. Joining us for this Friday's WoW willbe the local design duo of
Bethany Roa and Jack Holland. They will be presenting a trunk show with brand new designs inspired by animals from our beloved Cincinnati Zoo. Their graphics and messages are always smart and sassy! Please stop by to meet the wit behind this local-centric artwork.
As long time public-radio supporters, we were thrilled to be invited to be the featured business on
WMKV's Spotlight show. With charm and enthusiasm, George Zahn interviewed Diane about the gallery and business district. Take a
listen if you wish!
Fall is on the horizon and it is the peak season for new artwork at
indigenous. We look forward to daily deliveries of fresh artist collections. In this week alone, we are expecting new pottery from local favorites, Jason Parsley and Trish McLennan as well as jewelry from Elise Jens. These examples are just the tip of the iceberg-we represent over 150 local and regional artists. To keep up to date on all of our artistic endeavors, always read the monthly news letter and check out our facebook page often.
Looking forward to a lovely fall season with a bevy of autumnal goods to share with you!

Please help us welcome local mixed media artist,
Karen Kurak, to the
indigenous family of artists! She has added her creative prints & Reverie Note cards to our dynamic collection. In her work, Karen combines images from nature with the human form or face. Sometimes, places and/or moments caught in time are the subject. They are made with bits of cloth, paper and other layers of ephemeral imagery all stitched into place.
I grew up surrounded by cloth and fiber. I was always drawn by colors, textures, movement, and practicality found in these materials. I taught myself to sew early. It fulfilled a need and began a long relationship with making. I learned to weave during my time at art school at UC (DAAP). Interesting dying techniques were introduced then too. Both weaving and dying satisfy two critical elements in my making life; my desire for process and a need for a wide array of choices and possibility. Recently, I am pulled back toward collage, another childhood passion. My lifelong attraction to image of both the face and place are reemerging in collage. This work combines paper, cloth and image, using the stitch to connect pieces. My current task in the studio is to find balance between these media and processes. Throughout all, fluidity is important. From movement of cloth or color, to a fleeting moment caught by the image.

It's hard to believe our collection of pumpkins, gourds & new acorns that just arrived from
Jack Pine are better than our batch from last year, but they are! Beautiful forms, rich colors and lush finishes on each of Jack's pieces are remarkable. In addition to our annual pumpkin patch, brilliant acorns and large glass vessels have been added to this collection.
Jack Pine grew up in Circleville, Ohio which is home to one of the largest pumpkin shows nationwide. Jack has spent the last 20 years perfecting the art of glass-blowing and is well-known throughout Ohio and all over the country for his beautiful pieces of art. Jack's objective as an artist is to create organic art forms out of glass, using incredibly rich colors and a unique style. Always experimenting with a variety of precious metals and enamels by layering them on top of each other, Jack creates his stunning signature surface designs. Many customers find it hard to believe that the pieces are created only by glass and that there are no paints involved during the process, but it's true.

Blanket Creek Pottery continues to impress us with new forms and glazes! Paul Borian recently delivered a fresh selection of his pottery including nesting floral bowls in an amazing ash blue glaze. All of this studio's pottery is handmade from start to finish by Paul and his wife, Yael. They work in a small studio nestled in the beautiful countryside of Kentucky. Come in and check out new designs along with classics in rich, earthy blues and greens. This work aesthetically pleasing and fully functional for everyday use!

Colorful collection of tiles, plaques, coasters, lamps, vases, magnets and photo frames from our proficient maker,
Michael Macone has arrived. Michael creates his popular line of designs in clay, wood and paper and always keeps us well-stocked with all of his new creations, making it easy to find just the right gift with the right message.

Delightful new collection of mod stained glass works by
Sarah Brueck-Williams has arrived. We've added a series of colorful feathers, sweet rain clouds, lush green leaves, magical narwhals and vacation-inspired mountains to our windows. Feathers are based on the natural shape of different species of birds along with some creative rainbow versions. With grey skies or bright sunshine, they all look cool & cheery!
