LPEA ROUND UP FOUNDATION

Durango Derailers recently received a Round Up Foundation grant from the La Plata Electric Association (LPEA). The award comes through LPEA’s community-driven Round Up Foundation program, where local co-op members voluntarily “round up” their electric bills to help fund nonprofits and community projects across La Plata and Archuleta counties. We are so grateful for this amazing opportunity!

HELPING HANDS FOR KIDS

Thank you to all the families who joined us for our Helping Hands for Kids event — we loved seeing everyone come together to connect and celebrate the amazing kids at the heart of Durango Derailers.

From the hands-on activities, to the laughter and conversations, the night was full of joy and community. We’re so grateful for each of you who showed up and made it special.

WELCOME TO THE TEAM

Christina Brown, MHA joins us as the new Program Director for Durango Derailers! She has been a dedicated volunteer with Durango Derailers for more than 15 years. A Colorado native who has called Durango home for nearly 30 years, Christina is a mother of two, one of whom has multiple medical complexities—an experience that has deeply shaped her compassion for children and families navigating complex healthcare journeys.

In her free time, Christina and her family enjoy the outdoors, including camping, fishing, off-roading, and stargazing.

Christina is an experienced healthcare administrator with a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, with a focus on communication and collaboration. She is currently nearing completion of her doctoral dissertation and will soon earn her Doctorate in Healthcare Administration. In her role as DDPAF Program Director, Christina brings a strong commitment to building effective teams, streamlining processes, and fostering meaningful partnerships that enhance care delivery. Her lived experience provides a unique and empathetic understanding of the challenges families face and fuels her passion for bridging gaps in healthcare access across Southwest Colorado.

Christina is deeply committed to the Durango Derailers mission and vision and is excited to serve families while helping advance the organization’s fundraising and program goals.
