COMMUNITY CORNER

Opportunities, shout-outs and requests.

Dear Tracy,

Can you believe 2023 is almost over?! Like all good things, time flew while we were having fun.

We have a special treat for you to wrap up this year- we sat down with Tracy Weaver, our Executive Director, and our Board Chair, Bill Keleher, to talk about the year and what we are looking toward in 2024. Click below to watch the video.

There is not a way to sufficiently thank you for all of your support this year, except to emphatically tell you that you make such a difference for our families. We recently received a note from one of our alumni as she graduated with her degree that puts it best:

"I have achieved one of my goals and I dedicate it to all those who have supported me to achieve it at Saranam, it was a privilege to have you in my life after I ended up in homelessness."

It has been a privilege to work alongside you to create hope for our families in 2023. From all of us at Saranam, we wish you a very happy holiday season and a peaceful New Year!

ADC Campus Update

The question on everyone's mind is about the progress of our ADC Family Campus. Your excitement is so contagious! Here is the latest on what we have accomplished, what we’re waiting on, and our next steps:

  • We have purchased 80 percent of the portables needed for our homes and buildings.
  • The first 10 homes are level with the ground and a base coat for stucco has been applied!
  • We are waiting on power to be turned on so inspections can be completed on these homes. After this, we can finish the walls and start planning for decorating!
  • Our adult classrooms, donation center and offices are next on the list to be completed. The portables are on site and we are ready to pour the concrete footings for them.
  • The construction of our family center and additional homes will follow in subsequent stages of the build throughout 2024.

It remains our plan to welcome our first 10 families into these homes in spring 2024. We are getting closer and closer to this goal coming to fruition. Thank you for your support!

Merry and Bright

Spread Holiday Cheer!

There's nothing quite like that twinkle in a child's eye during the holidays. There is so much wonder and excitement ready to burst out of them!

Help families ignite that twinkle by participating in our holiday gift drive. Here are some ways to give:

  • Donate a gift from our wishlist at Walmart SparkGood.
  • Give the opportunity for parents to be gift givers for their kids by giving gift cards.

All items must be dropped off or delivered by Friday, December 15th to 1028 Eubank Blvd. NE, Suite F. Albuquerque, NM 87112.

Thank you for spreading holiday cheer!

Contact Sunny Holmes, Community Engagement Coordinator at (505) 377-5086 or email at sholmes@saranamabq.org with questions or schedule a drop-off.

A Gift Too Big for a Box

Looking to give a truly meaningful gift? Or want to add something personal to your wishlist?

Honor a special someone this holiday season with a gift that gives back. When you make a donation in your loved one's name, you'll not only support a cause close to their heart, you will give hope to families experiencing homelessness.

There is no box big enough to contain that feeling!

Donate by December 15 and we will send a card and present to your loved one (or you can put it in a really, really big box).

Sharing the Spirit of the Season

A Story Worth Telling

As we enter a season of celebrating with loved ones, we have so many opportunities to tell our family, friends and loved ones about Saranam. You may ignite a spark of interest and you will certainly spark a warm glow of hope.

We have a special message for you from our Board Member and long-time friend, Christine Long, to help you share a story that is important to you.

"I am so grateful that I get to be a small part of the Saranam story so I share that story whenever and wherever I can."

Holiday Partners

We have some very special holiday elves in the community who are creating some holiday magic here at Saranam. Huge thanks to the following community partners for all of they are doing to make the season one to remember:

We also want to thank everyone who donated holiday decorations this year. Our families were thrilled to deck their halls with them.

Very merry holiday wishes from us all!

December 31 will be here before we know it! Make sure you make your end of year contributions, stock gifts and IRA distributions soon. Remember to check if your employer has a corporate match and double your impact!

Community Care

One of things we love most about our community is the many ways to see your care shine!

Thank you to the Rotary Club of Albuquerque Del Norte for donating baskets FULL of all the ingredients to make a Thanksgiving meal. Double thanks for braving the rain to help deliver them to our families!

Our deepest appreciation to all the families at Double Eagle Elementary School for holding a household supply drive during their annual Month of Giving. They filled up our shelves with much needed cleaning and organizing supplies!

And a big round of applause to Del Webb at Mirehaven! Several members of their community are leading an InstantPot class this month to teach first-year families some easy meals they can whip up in no time. AND each family will get to take home an InstantPot of their very own. It is something on every family's wish list this year and is a great surprise for them. Thank you to everyone who donated to make it possible!!
