Wrapping up National Blueberry Month!

Tuesday, July 25th

2 - 6:30 p.m.

It seems hard to believe that August is just a week away! Our farmers have faced many challenges this year and truly appreciate the community support they receive in Lexington. This summer has brought some erratic weather and yet our shoppers, vendors and farmers still come together weekly for the best local food----rain or shine! We are grateful for all of you who make our market the best around!

July is National Blueberry Month and the bountiful tables of sweet juicy berries at LFM throughout July have spotlighted this delicious fruit. This week's newsletter features a favorite recipe of Market Manager Kim, a quick summer blueberry pie that always gets rave reviews. It is easily adaptable too! No brown sugar? Substitute raw sugar or turbinado sugar. Avoiding gluten? Use gluten free flour for the filling and crumble and pour in to a store-bought gluten free frozen pie crust. Add a little lemon zest if you want a hint of citrus or change it up by adding walnuts instead of pecans. If you try the pie, stop by the Market Manager's tent and let Kim know if it was a hit in your home too!

Speaking of delicious food, come for a late lunch or early dinner and enjoy our favorite food truck JUST HUMMUS, with hummus and falafel sandwiches and bowls to enjoy onsite. Cap off your meal with tahini gelato, and bring home varieties of hummus for healthy snacking at home. We never miss the opportunity to enjoy their fresh local food!

Monthly guest vendor HOUSE BEAR BREWING will be back this week. Their crisp blackberry cider was our beverage of choice this month and they are bringing new flavors of mead and cider this week. Stop by and see what they have brewed to tempt your tastebuds!

New guest vendor RASCAL RELISH may look familiar to you. Available previously at Drew's Stews, Sarah will be bringing her carefully crafted tomato spread product to the LFM. Stop by and learn more about her ingredients and sustainable process.

At the ARTISAN TENT, Steve Ball Wood Turning will be back with his unique wood artistry and You're Lovely Crafts will be at the market with an array of crafts perfect for your home or gift giving. ENTERTAINMENT this week will include Alex Lehar playing classics and popular standards followed later in the the day by the fantastic fiddling of Arlington HS graduates Noodling Soup. It's going to be a great week!

July 25th Entertainment & Artisans

Live Music and Entertainment

2-4 pm: Longtime Lexington resident & guitarist Alex Lehar will entertain us at the start of the market. A native of the UK, he has worked in both digital imaging and music copyright management, and always brings an eclectic mix of guitar arrangements, including classical pieces and popular melodies.

4:30-6:30pm: String Duo Noodling Soup will be joining us for the second half of the market. Their fiddle style of play, combined with a guitarist, won the crowd over at their first appearance earlier this month. We are lucky to have such talented musicians joining us once again!

Blueberry Custard Pie

There are few things that say Summer more than blueberries so it is no surprise that July is National Blueberry Month! In the past few weeks, our farmers have offered plump sweet blueberries in abundance. This Blueberry Custard Pie, from blogger The Girl Who Ate Everything, is a twist on the classic blueberry pie with a creamy custard filling and topped with a crunchy streusel. With minimal preparation time, this pie was a huge hit at my house and can be served warm or cold.
