BIPOC Leaders in Action

In late May, we had an incredible day of learning, connection, and inspiration at our Annual BIPOC Retreat: BIPOC Leaders in Action, held at the Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum!

We extend our sincere gratitude to Adriana Abizadeh-Barbour for leading a powerful and engaging session on advocacy, equipping participants with valuable tools to amplify their voices and create meaningful change in their communities.

We also thank Dr. Anniesha Walker, LCSW, for her insightful and thought-provoking presentation on burnout, which provided practical strategies for recognizing and addressing the challenges many leaders face.

A special thank you to the Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum for graciously hosting us and providing a fascinating tour that highlighted the rich history and contributions of African Americans in our region.

The retreat offered an opportunity for BIPOC leaders to connect, reflect, learn, and recharge. We are grateful to all who participated and helped make this event such a success. We look forward to continuing to build community and support the leadership journeys of BIPOC professionals throughout Mercer County and beyond.

Leading Through Change: LFW Alumni Reception

This month we had the pleasure of welcoming our Leading From Within alumni back together for an engaging session on Leading Through Change led by Mari K. Flannery.

In today’s rapidly evolving world, effective leadership requires more than managing change, it requires helping others navigate it with confidence, clarity, and empathy. During the session, alumni explored the science behind our responses to change, the importance of psychological safety, and strategies for leading teams through uncertainty.

One key takeaway resonated throughout the afternoon: while change is inevitable, leaders have the power to shape how their teams experience it.

Participants reflected on how communication, trust, and intentional leadership can create environments where individuals feel safe to ask questions, share ideas, and adapt to new challenges. The session also highlighted practical tools leaders can use to build resilience and maintain focus during periods of transition.

We are grateful to Mari Flannery for sharing her expertise and to our incredible LFW alumni community for continuing to invest in their growth as leaders. Opportunities like these remind us that leadership development does not end with a program, it is a lifelong journey of learning, connection, and impact.
