This will be our last newsletter of 2014. And what a year it has been! Between all of our special events, classes, and projects, we have been busily working to improve the way of life that we enjoy on the Western Slope. This month's newsletter reflects on many of our on-going efforts -- improving senior care, expanding broadband, economic development planning, etc.

Before we dive further into the holiday season and close out this very busy year, we wanted to say thank you for your support and wish you all the best during these joyous times. Happy holidays from Region 10!

Often, we hear of the economic vitality of Colorado -- how business is booming, jobs are being created, how we have recovered from the 2008 crash, etc. For those of us on the Western Slope, we don't necessarily feel the same way. Region 10 recently presented to the Department of Local Affairs and State Demography Office regarding how economic recovery looks in our region. View the presentation on how our region compares to the rest of the state for recovery.

Region 10's Community Living Services department has completed its community conversation at 12 different locations throughout the region. The results of these conversations will be used to help develop the upcoming four year plan that will guide area planning and funding for 2015 to 2019. Learn more about the results of the conversations and the four year plan.

A winter wonderland is gorgeous falling in crystal flakes from the sky. On your sidewalks and driveway, it's not so pretty -- especially if you are an older adult or somebody with a physical limitation. This winter, the Aginst and Disability Resources for Colorado (ADRC) has issued a  "Snow Bash Challenge" to the community of Montrose. Pick up your shovels, commit to helping seniors and disabled residents with snow removal, and compete for a $500 cash prize.

The holidays can be stressful. They can be especially stressful for those who are responsible for the well-being of a family member or care recipient. Learn how to reduce your stress as a caregiver with some helpful tips from Region 10's own Amy Rowan. This is part one of a four part series of useful holiday tips for caregivers. Stay tuned for more!
Thank you for your continued support in making our six
-county region one of the best places to live and work.

Sincerely,

Michelle Haynes
Executive Director
Region 10
