Final Plenary will address Gender-Based Violence and Human Trafficking


At 3:45pm today, Anita Ravi, MD, MPH, MSHP, FAAFP will present “The Art of ‘Unlearning’ to Advance Health Equity: The PurpLE Health Story.” Dr. Ravi is CEO and Co-Founder of the PurpLE Health Foundation, a nationally recognized non-profit pioneering the United States’ first Center of Healthcare Excellence for Survivors of Gender-Based Violence to improve care for women, girls, and gender-diverse people who have experienced human trafficking, domestic violence, and sexual assault. Dr. Ravi is also a 2016 recipient of the FMEC’s Emerging Leader Award.

What’s on for Advocacy Saturday?

Make sure to register to vote at Vote.gov, and get educated about advocacy at the FMEC today with the following sessions. At 9:15am, join Seminar 40 to learn about “Primary Care for All Americans: A National Movement to Build a Primary Care Driven System” then follow it up at 11:00am with Seminar 47, “Transformation to an Advanced Primary Care Model of Care: Helping America to Achieve the Quintuple Aim of Healthcare” or Lecture Discussion 65 on “Food Insecurity and Climate Change.”

FMEC Breast Cancer Project Spotlighted – Free Online CME Modules

On the schedule today is “BRCA The Brave: Implementation of a Hereditary Breast Cancer Screening Quality Improvement Project (Paper Presentation, 2:30pm). Learn more about FMEC’s project and how to screen, refer and educate patients about hereditary breast cancer risk. You can view FMEC’s online modules and earn CME credit. Visit CME Series: Confidence in Hereditary Breast Cancer Discussion to view 7 short (15-20 minute) modules on narrative medicine, setting up the family practice office, working with genetic counselors, and supporting patients’ questions and concerns.


Reminder: FMEC Networking Meetings are Today!

In between viewing posters and visiting the exhibits, please join FMEC volunteers at one of these three networking meetings and get involved! These meetings are 1:30pm-2:30pm.

  • Integrative Health Learning and Teaching Network will talk about FMEC’s new Whole Person Care Performance Improvement Learning Collaborative. Email Rebecca Bouck for more information.
  • 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm Faculty Development Committee will plan how FMEC can support faculty development - complete this 3-question Faculty Development Survey to give your input.
  • 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm Residency Program Coordinator/Administrator Group. Join other program coordinators and GME staff to brainstorm how the FMEC can help you.
