Lend A Hand This Christmas

A number of community groups in Wynnum Manly are asking for donations to help with those needing a hand this Christmas.
  
My office is helping as a collection venue for donations to assist.
  
If you would like to donate, non-perishable food items, a toy for a child or a present for a teenager or adult, your support would be appreciated.

Please drop them in before Friday 9 December  so they can be handed out before Christmas.  Thank you in advance.

This year there are two venues opening their doors for people in our community needing a hand or seeking some company on Christmas Day.

Bayside Uniting Church Hall, 420 Wondall Road, Manly West
Book on 38902392 by Monday 19 December, cars can collect you if need.
Doors open at 11.30 for 12noon lunch

Cooper's Cafe, 409 Esplanade at Manly

Doors open at 11am - 3.00pm

Both venues are free and open to anyone in need this Christmas.

Community Groups


The Wynnum Manly Red Cross Branch will be conducting their Christmas Raffle at Wynnum Plaza Shopping Centre from Monday 21st November until Saturday 3rd December.
 First prize is a Christmas hamper donated by Woolworths, Wynnum Plaza. Second, third and fourth prizes are donated by the Manly Hotel, The Cheesecake Shop and Karen and Ian Southcott. It will be drawn on Wednesday 7th December.  

CHRISTMAS AT ST PETER'S, Charlotte Street, Wynnum
  The  "TREErific" Christmas Tree display is open from Monday 12th  to Saturday 17th  December in the church hall at 77 Charlotte Street, Wynnum.  Opening times are 10am to 2pm and 6pm to 8pm daily and entry is FREE.
 
St Peter's Blue Service Tuesday December 20 @ 10.00 am.
If the Christmas season is difficult for you, then this service of reflection may help put things into perspective. A gentle time of Christian reflection for anyone who struggles with Christmas. Helpful for those suffering from bereavement, grief, loss, hardship, sadness, or life in general.  St Peter's Anglican church is at 77 Charlotte Street, Wynnum.
 
'Movie in the Church' The Christmas movie this year will be 'Christmas with a Capital "C" ' (PG) and will be shown in St Peter's Anglican Church (77 Charlotte Street, Wynnum) on Sunday 11th December at 6.00 pm. Please bring a rug/cushion or bean bag to fully enjoy the experience.  Free admission, drinks and popcorn.

I attended the Wynnum RSL Social Golf Club presentation lunch. Dave Cassell won the shield I sponsor.  Dave had won the same shield in 2009.(photo)

In the afternoon I went to the farewell picnic for Wendy Dunstan and congratulated her on retirement after 21 years at General Gordon Childcare Centre.
 
Monday 28 November
I attended the Guardian Angels Primary School Awards Parade.

In the evening I attended the Wynnum Table Tennis Christmas Party.

With a busy day in Council, I took leave and dropped into the Wynnum West State School's year 6  graduation.  I was pleased to congratulate legendary Wynnum West SS teacher Peter O'Sullivan all the best for his retirement and present one of the awards. 
 
Wednesday 30 November
I attended an interesting forum on ' B risbane Residential Development
Opportunities Through The NDIS .'  This program is soon to commence for  people living with disabilities.
