In the senate today:
HB 0022 – Teacher accountability. This bill passed on second reading. It was amended to include standards developed by the state board of education and to include “student academic performance measures.” The academic performance measures mirrors current Chapter 29 rules requirements. This includes a broad set of performance measures which are currently being used as part of teacher evaluation systems. The bill will be up for third reading tomorrow.
HB 0023 – Education accountability. This bill was laid back until tomorrow.
HB 0024 - National Board Certification. This bill passed Committee of the Whole in the Senate today. This is a clean-up bill that puts into statute a variety of changes that occurred in past years through budget amendments. Senator Wasserburger successfully amended the legislation to once again include speech language therapists to the list to qualified licensed educators eligible to participate in the program. The bill moves to second reading in the senate tomorrow.
In House Education Committee yesterday:
SF 0064 – School safety and security. This bill was passed as amended.
