2022 Academic Scholarship Winners Announced
Wyoming Soccer Association is proud to announce the recipients of the 2022 Academic Scholarship. Each recipient will receive a $500 academic scholarship paid to the college where they are enrolled.

We had several applications come in, and as always, they were each highly qualified and deserving. But, our scholarship committee was able to narrow it down to the following three!
Caden Allaire

Caden is from Casper, and plans to attend Casper College and focus on Biology with a minor in business so he can eventually go into the medical field and change lives through orthopedic surgery.

Caden plans to play soccer as a goalkeeper while at Casper College. Caden eloquently describes the challenges of playing soccer in Wyoming from the hours of traveling in order to compete, the drawbacks of the weather making year round training difficult, and the sparse population giving way to limited connections. He has had to learn to commit everything to his goal in order to overcome what he describes as the "beautifully daunting world" he calls home. This has led to his growth as both an athlete and as a person in general.

His soccer profile includes the following:

  • Three-time 1st Team All-State and All-Conference Honors
  • Team Captain for Kelly Walsh High School
  • 4A West Region Champions
  • 3rd Place 4A State Champions
  • Kelly Walsh High School Record - 9 goals against in a season
  • Kelly Walsh High School Record - 0.45 Goals Agains Average (GAA)
  • ODP Regional Camp Attendee
  • Wyoming Soccer Association Spotlight Player - August 2021

Caden enjoys sharing his soccer knowledge with younger players, helping them learn and get excited about the game. He has also spent a lot of time with kids in the TOPSoccer Program, a program designed for children with disabilities. Caden works tirelessly on his technique, and has had to find ways to adapt and train when the weather is unforgiving and there are no indoor spaces to train. His "never say die" attitude is something he says he will take with him and use undoubtedly for the rest of his life. In addition to soccer, Caden also plays basketball and tennis. He cooks and plays the guitar, and despite his many activities and the time he spends volunteering, he has been able to maintain a 4.0 GPA. He has demonstrated he is an excellent role model for his peers and makes his family, his school and his community very proud!
Ezra Anderson

Ezra is from Newcastle, WY and plans to attend Black Hills State University and focus on Business Administration, hoping to earn a degree in Entrepreneurship. His goal is to open his own gym. He finds joy in being able to help people become the best version of themselves.

Ezra joined the Newcastle Soccer League when he was five years old and says it has been a huge part of his life ever since. Soccer was the ignition that started the work ethic he is known for in school, at the gym and in every other aspect of his life. He says soccer brings him relaxation and helps him clear his mind when he has a rough day.

Ezra's soccer profile includes:

  • Varsity Freshman of the Year - Newcastle High School - 2019
  • Three-time Letter Recipient (No letters given in 2020)
  • Team Captain - 2021, 2022

Off the pitch, Ezra is recognized for his leadership. He recently was awarded a first place finish in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) in web site design. He was his class Valedictorian, having maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout his high school career. He was able to rise to the top of his class through working hard and never giving up - attributes he learned from playing soccer. As Ezra moves through life, he will most certainly continue to motivate those around him to do better. Ezra will always be grateful to the beautiful sport for impacting his life in such a huge way.
