WYOMING SOCCER ANNOUNCES
2022 USYS WEST REGIONAL & NATIONAL WINNERS
Wyoming Soccer is pleased to announce we have two individuals from Wyoming who were selected as USYS West Region Award Winners. All winners from our 2022 Wyoming AGM & Awards Celebration were nominated for regional awards. Regional winners are then nominated for National Awards, and one of these individuals won the national award!

We would like to congratulate the following two individuals on their Regional Selection, which includes the states of California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Hawaii, Alaska, and of course, Wyoming.

Being selected on a regional level is a HUGE honor and accomplishment,
and this year, for the first time ever, one of them went on to win the
2022 National USYS Award!
KATIE GITTHENS
USYS West Region TOPSoccer Coach of the Year

Katie Gitthens lives in Casper and has been part of the Casper TOPSoccer program since its inception. Katie works with the TOPSoccer players in many other realms within the community and knows many of them and their families personally outside of the program. There is a true reciprocal bond between Katie and the players, who absolutely adore her.

Katie is a true advocate of the program and does her best to promote it to as many people as she can and through her efforts the Casper TOPSoccer program continues to grow.

By all accounts Katie does a phenomenal job coaching the kids and has a special gift of being able to push the kids to give their best while still making it a fun environment for all - players and buddies alike. She has worked with several non-profit organizations, and she has volunteered for the Orr’s Hope Foundation and works for the Olivia Caldwell Foundation. She is passionate about giving back to her community. She is more than deserving of the 2022 USYS West Regional TOPSoccer Coach of the Year award, and we are so proud that she is part of Casper Soccer Club and Wyoming Soccer Association.

CONGRATULATIONS, KATIE!
ZOE LAM
USYS West Region TOPSoccer Buddy of the Year & National Winner

Zoe is from Cheyenne and has been a buddy since she was only 8 years old – even before the TOPSoccer program merged with Cheyenne Soccer Club. Zoe not only formed bonds with the players within the structure of the program, but met these players outside of the program and formed true friendships with many of them.

Zoe has transitioned to college life out of state and plays collegiate soccer. Her passion for TOPSoccer followed her. Her local church group runs a similar TOPSoccer program and Zoe volunteers and has recruited several of her college teammates to be buddies as well. When she is home from college, she is sure to give at least some of her time to TOPSoccer.

For over a decade, Zoe has given her time and passion to the program and we are excited to announce that Zoe Lam from Cheyenne has not only received the honor of being named the 2022 USYS West Region TOPSoccer Buddy of the Year, but she has been awarded the USYS National TOPSoccer Buddy of the Year! Zoe is our first ever national award winner, and we truly could not be more proud of her and all she has achieved!

CONGRATULATIONS, ZOE!
We are thrilled to keep seeing Wyoming names pop up on the regional level, and now we have reached the national level! We are confident we have people deserving in 2023, as well.

Please make sure you get your nominations in for those who stand out in your club. Nominations for the 2023 awards are open!
