AIS-15/ISS Course Hosted by the State Trauma Program

The Wyoming Trauma Program had the opportunity to host an AIS-15/ISS Course on June 4-5, 2019 in Casper. We would like to thank everyone who participated in the AIS-15-ISS Course. The instructors for this course, Kathy Cookman and Amy Brammer, were nothing short of amazing. Each student in the class passed the test with no one having to go through remediation and 3 students passed the test with a perfect score!
We are very fortunate in our state to have the opportunity to receive funding from other programs within the state. The Hospital Preparedness Program has been very generous in funding this class for each participant so that at least one person from each trauma program around the state had the opportunity to receive this education.That being said, we would like to thank the Hospital Preparedness Program for working with us to make this happen and also thank you to everyone who participated in the AIS-15/ISS course. Without your participation, we would not be able to host events like this.
We had a great time networking with everyone and we found the course itself to be extremely useful and very educational.

Trauma Program Rules Under Revision
|
|
We are in the process of revising the rules for the Wyoming Trauma Program. This project will take more than a year to complete, and we need your help. We would like your input with regard to the rules. While we have provided multiple opportunities for you to provide feedback, this form is another opportunity to participate in the process. This survey will remain available to you through the duration of the process, and you may comment as many times as you would like.
Please keep in mind that it is extremely important for you as a stakeholder in the Trauma Program to be a part of this process as these rules will apply to you. Make sure your opinion has been documented by clicking on the button below and providing your feedback.

Fremont County Participates in Life RU Ready

Bralli Clifford,Trauma Program Manager at SageWest Healthcare in Riverton and Lander, had the opportunity to participate in Life RU Ready and Central Wyoming College's Disaster Drill 2019. This event was designed for children to learn about the dangers of drinking and distracted driving through reenactments of real-life scenarios, including a courtroom, a jail cell, an emergency room, and a mortuary. Our colleague Bralli appeared on K2 News for her work in demonstrating what takes place in the Emergency Department following a trauma/injury. Shout out to Bralli for demonstrating the hard work and life saving skills in the Emergency Department and helping educate the children in your community! Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Hosted by Sheridan Memorial Hospital

Critical Incident Stress Management is a formal, highly structured and professionally recognized process for helping those involved in a critical incident. As we know, the state of mental health in the field of emergency medicine has been a topic of focus in the media and around the nation. There are several different variations of intervention that can be used to address traumatic impact and help prevent burnout in our colleagues lives.
Jackie Crowley, Trauma Program Manager at Sheridan Memorial Hospital, had the opportunity to host a Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) class.
14 people were able to attend the class where they learned in a classroom setting as well as role playing a debriefing in groups. This class was very successful as they now have more people trained to do debriefing sessions in order to prevent burnout and take care of our colleagues.
Jackie is working on putting together a pre-incident training to help build resistance and resilience for new people in the emergency field. Great job Jackie for taking the lead and setting up this class, we are excited to see what your success may bring to your community!

Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
10th Edition Hosted by Cody Regional Health
|
|
Advanced Trauma Life Support is a course developed to provide a safe and reliable method for immediate management of injured patients. This course provides a review of how to assess a patient's condition, resuscitate and stabilize them, and determine if the patient's needs exceed a facility's capacity. In the instance that a trauma patient that exceeds the facility's capacity, the course provides an overview of how to arrange for a patient's inter-hospital transfer and assure that optimum care is provided throughout the process. For a facility that may not see a trauma patient as frequently, this course demonstrates an easy method to remember for evaluation and treatment of a trauma victim.
Sarah Whitlock, Trauma Program Manager at Cody Regional Health, will be hosting an Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) 10th Edition course on September 6-7, 2019. Space will be limited to 16 students per class with a continental breakfast and lunch provided.

ICD-10 Course
Hosted by Wyoming Medical Center

International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) is a system used by healthcare providers to classify and code all diagnoses, symptoms and procedures recorded in conjunction with hospital care. This system provides a level of detail that is necessary for diagnostic specificity and morbidity classification.
Cari Hacking, Trauma Program Manager at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, has announced that they will be hosting an ICD-10 Course July 25-26, 2019. This course is an interactive class with trauma-specific coding scenarios.
A
minimum
of 20 participants is required in order to hold the course so participation is necessary and highly recommended.
There are currently 6 people that are signed up for this course and only 1 person is representing Wyoming thus far. Please register for this course NO LATER THAN June 28, 2019.

49th Annual Wyoming Trauma & EMS Conference
|

The Wyoming Trauma Program would like to inform you of this years Trauma Coordinator Meeting to be held on August 14, 2019. The Trauma Coordinator meeting will take place at the Little America Hotel. This meeting is closed and is highly recommended for Trauma Program Staff to attend.
This meeting is an educational opportunity as well as time for all of us to connect. Please click on the button below to let us know what topics you would like to hear more about, questions you may have for the state or your colleagues, or any other suggestions you may have for the meeting.
The 49th Annual Trauma Conference will take place on August 14-17, 2019. Please mark your calendars and book your hotel for this event before it is too late!
