Annual Trauma Program Meeting

The Annual Trauma Program Meeting was held on August 14, 2019 for all trauma program staff in Wyoming to attend. We had some great speakers throughout the day, very productive discussions, and of course made a lot of memories with our trauma program colleagues. The State Trauma Program would like to thank you all for attending and participating in this year's meeting. We can't wait to see you next year! The 49th Annual Trauma & EMS Conference has wrapped up and we are gearing up for next year's big 5-0! We want to thank everyone who participated this year as we could not make this happen without the help from all of you. Stop the Bleed Collaboration Between Cheyenne Regional Medical Center & Wyoming Medical Center

Trauma Program staff from Wyoming's two regional trauma centers, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center (CRMC) & Wyoming Medical Center (WMC) had the opportunity to collaborate and present the Stop the Bleed course during the conference. The turn out for the courses was so great that the room was full and they hit capacity with people still wanting to join! Thank you to all of you for your hard work and for coming together to make this happen, we appreciate you!

Drunk Buster Karts Provided by Wyoming Medical Center

Wyoming Medical Center Trauma and Injury Prevention Programs participate in a program called, PARTY, Preventing Alcohol Related Trauma in Youth. This program is focused on educating the community's youth about the dangers of impaired and distracted driving. The drunk buster karts along with 6 "impairment goggles" that vary in impairment (drug, alcohol, LSD, and sleep impairment) are paired with a course outlined by cones for the participants to take their turns completing the course while being distracted by cell phones, talking and of course the impairment goggles themselves. WMC staff was presented with an opportunity to bring their Drunk Buster Karts to the conference and to provide a brief presentation on the program. This was a great addition to the 49th Annual Trauma & EMS Conference. We appreciate all of your hard work in your community as well as during the conference. Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) 10th Edition Hosted by Cody Regional Health

Advanced Trauma Life Support is a course developed to provide a safe and reliable method for immediate management of injured patients. This course provides a review of how to assess a patient's condition, resuscitate and stabilize them, and determine if the patient's needs exceed a facility's capacity. In the instance that a trauma patient that exceeds the facility's capacity, the course provides an overview of how to arrange for a patient's inter-hospital transfer and assure that optimum care is provided throughout the process. For a facility that may not see a trauma patient as frequently, this course demonstrates an easy method to remember for evaluation and treatment of a trauma victim. Sarah Whitlock, Trauma Program Manager at Cody Regional Health, will be hosting an Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) 10th Edition course on September 6-7, 2019. State Trauma Program Updates

The Trauma ListServ is Changing!

We want to let you know that the Department of Health has decided to do away with our current listserv format. We are being asked to work in the Google Group environment.  Things to know:  -The new listserv email address is  wyotrauma@wyo.gov. -The new name of the list is Wyoming Trauma System, it should show up in your subject line as [wyotrauma] to indicate the message origins.  -You may go to the Google site to set your preferences (i.e. if you want a digest form or all messages) and to view the archives (which are fairly sparse right now)   -  https://groups.google.com/a/wyo.gov/d/forum/wyotrauma  You can also post right from that URL site! - We will continue to use the  trauma@lists.health.wyo.gov  list but will add in the new list as well...Yeah! you MAY get twice as many emails from us :) Everyone loves spam! - As soon as we can (no 100% go live date as of yet) we will start to use only the new  wyotrauma@wyo.gov  group. The Wyoming Trauma Program website has undergone a makeover and we would like to extend the opportunity for your feedback. If there is something that you would like to see added to the website or resources that may be missing, please let us know. You are encouraged to take a look at the material available to you. There are resources that may help you in using the trauma registry, tips on how to prepare for a site review, information on the trauma rules revision that is in progress and much more. Trauma Program Rules Under Revision

We are in the process of revising the rules for the Wyoming Trauma Program. This project will take more than a year to complete, and we need your help. We would like your input with regard to the rules. What would you like to see change within the Wyoming Trauma System? While we have provided multiple opportunities for you to provide feedback, this form is another opportunity to participate in the process. This survey will remain available to you through the duration of the process, and you may comment as many times as you would like. Please keep in mind that it is extremely important for you as a stakeholder in the Trauma Program to be a part of this process as these rules will apply to you. Make sure your opinion has been documented by clicking on the button below and providing your feedback.
