Welcome back and a belated Happy Thanksgiving! With Christmas right around the corner, let’s update you on what happened at XF this fall!
'Winter Wonderland' Auction
The Crossfire auction is a night everyone involved with the club looks forward to. The 2019 auction theme was, “Winter Wonderland!” As always, the night began with the silent auction, followed by dinner and the live auction. Some of our auction items included trips to Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska, as well as soccer trips to England and Italy. The band finished off a memorable evening. Thank you to everyone that was involved!
Madrid Cup
The BU-14 ECNL team traveled to sunny Spain to attend Madrid Cup, one of the most prestigious Under-14 tournaments in the world. This is the fourth consecutive year Crossfire has played in the tournament. The team had tough games against Spanish powerhouse Barcelona and Getafe. Wins against Norwegian Soccer Academy, Excellence Academie and Bray Wanderers rounded off a memorable trip. Outside of the games, the boys got chance to explore, including a tour of Real Madrid's iconic stadium, Santiago Bernabeu.
Girls ECNL Showcase
Both the GU-13 and GU-14 ECNL teams competed in the fall ECNL Showcase down in Davis, CA. GU-14 completed a clean sweep, finishing 3-0-0, while the GU-13 went 2-1-0 after unfairly losing a close one, 1-0. Both teams played some great soccer, earning positive results, while enjoying the sun both on and off the field.
West Region Academy Showcase
The BU-13 ECNL team had similar success at the US Soccer Development Academy West Region Showcase in Orange County. The boys had a perfect 4-0-0 record, including 11 goals scored and only one goal against.
NCAA Participants
At Crossfire, we don't just care about the success of our current players, we also keep an eye out to all our alumni! This year, we had 43 former Crossfire players participate in the NCAA tournament for their college team. For boys in Division 1, 2 and 3, there were 16, 1 and 2 players, respectively. For the women in division 1, 2 and 3, there were 18, 2 and 3 players, respectively. We also had one player in the NAIA championships.
College Commitments
Hoping to improve that tally next year, we already have so many commits to play college soccer next year. All players committed thus far are mentioned below!
