XMS Re-Opening Plans for Fall

Dear Xavier Middle School Families,

We hope you have enjoyed the summer months so far and that the rest of the summer vacation is a great one for you and your family. The goal of this letter is to provide a brief overview of the upcoming school year at Xavier Middle School specific to the current situation that is present in our society related to COVID-19.

Our belief is that we learn better together. As of right now, the Xavier System’s plan is to return to school for in-person instruction, five days a week. Starting August 26th, the middle school will be open for students. Our mission is to ensure that every student grows in their faith, their academics, and their community. This compels us to take all necessary precautions to minimize the spread of COVID-19 within our school community.

Given the current public health conditions, to begin the school year, we are establishing safety measures to include:
  • students and staff wearing masks
  • students and staff being screened prior to entering the building
  • social distancing in all learning spaces
  • eating lunch in homerooms
  • and other increased safety measures.
We will publish the detailed plan in the coming weeks. With the belief that our student’s mental, social, and emotional health are extremely important, we are confident that we can provide an excellent education rooted in our Catholic faith with all students in our building while safeguarding our middle school community.

We are also planning for a wide range of learning opportunities for our students throughout this school year. Our goal is to ensure your child’s education remains steady, rigorous, and faith-filled. While we hope and pray that in-person instruction lasts all school year, if mandated by state and local officials, we may need to transition into an e-learning environment. We also understand that the public health situation may change and we will adjust our plans as necessary.

Our staff of highly qualified professional educators and support personnel are committed to providing the students with many opportunities both in and out of the classroom. We invite and encourage students and their families to work in partnership with us to seize the many opportunities that will bring our Xavier community together. We want, need, and value your involvement and support in your child(ren)’s education! Your active participation is key to their success throughout the school year.

Accompanying this letter is some key important information for the new school year. As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Again, we welcome you to Xavier Middle School and to our wonderful community . . . a Christ-centered community dedicated to the faith formation, academic excellence, community engagement, and individual growth of our students in a safe environment.  Here’s to a memorable new school year as we work together to make our school a great place to worship and grow each day!

Sincerely,

Robert Bires Sara Meyer
