Virgen Dolorosa. Feast Day - September 15
Prayer to Our Lady of Sorrows

Our mother of sorrows, with strength from above you stood by the cross, sharing in the sufferings of Jesus, and with tender care you bore him in your arms, mourning and weeping. We praise you for your faith, which accepted the life God planned for you. We praise you for your hope, which trusted that God would do great things in you. We praise you for your love in bearing with Jesus the sorrows of his passion. Holy Mary, may we follow your example, and stand by all your children who need comfort and love. Mother of God, stand by us in our trials and care for us in our many needs. Pray for us now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Today begins National Hispanic Heritage Month which runs through October 15th. This month-long observance is a celebration of the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. It is a time to honor the contributions of Latino and Hispanic communities, highlighting diversity, culture and traditions.

Mass is generally celebrated 9:30am on Tuesdays at Xavier Middle School. At this time, we invite parents, grandparents, relatives and friends of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Schools to join us via livestream. Go to the XMS Campus Ministry webpage for the link: Campus Ministry - XMS.

Celebrate Volunteer Meeting: Thursday, September 16th at noon in the XHS Library
Celebrate is the largest, single event fundraiser for Xavier Catholic Schools. All parents/guardians are invited (and encouraged) to volunteer as this event is a system-wide effort benefiting the entire school system. It is also a great way to get to know parents from other campuses. The evening typically features a dinner, live and silent auctions, raffles and games, entertainment, etc. Last year it was a successful virtual event that raised over $560,000. This year we are planning a hybrid experience.

Celebrate meetings are held once a month. This year’s kickoff meeting will be held on Thursday, September 16 at noon at in the library Xavier High School (we will have people there giving directions to the library). At that meeting we will discuss the optimal meeting dates and times moving forward.

Please plan to join us to brainstorm and have some fun while we come together, catch up, and meet new friends. It takes many helping hands to make Celebrate a successful event and we really need great volunteers who want to have fun while getting things done. The meetings are also a great way to provide input and suggest any ideas you have. Children not in school yet are always welcome.
Bonus: there is always chocolate!

Questions or can’t attend, but still want to be involved? Contact Lisa Pfaff at [email protected] or 735-9380.

Girl Scouts
Girl Scouts is committed to making sure girls and families can still get connected in their communities and have support from GSNWGL. Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. As Girl Scouts, girls discover the fun, friendship, and power of girls together. Girls grow courageous and strong through a wide variety of enriching experiences, such as field trips, skill-building sports clinics, community service projects, cultural exchanges, and environmental stewardships.

Girl Scouts helps girls develop their full individual potential; relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect; develop values to guide their actions and provide the foundation for sound decision making; and contribute to the improvement of society through their abilities, leadership skills, and cooperation with others.

We will be meeting at least every other Tuesday starting Sept 21st and Oct 5th from 3:30-5pm. Please come for the last 15 mins to get more information on how to sign-up. We hope to see you there!
